Why do you dislike AI art in games?

Almost the only images that AI has learned to draw well so far are canvases in the style of abstractionism. In particular, the well-known "Malevich Square" and its variations. IMHO.

[...]

1-1) If the AI art was good (consistent, no artifacts and weird stuff like odd fingers and skin and eyes, thematically-appropriate skin tones and features, no weird disconnect between subject and environment), and the art style could be whatever type you preferred (hyperrealism, 3D anime like, cartoonish, or whatever), would you be ok with it being used to make games?

1-2) Would you prefer "good" AI to asset swap art? (Asset swap is when you pick a 2D or 3D hair and snap it to a base model. RPG Maker is an example of asset swaps for sprite creation. Some WebGL games use asset swap libraries for 3D characters.)

1-3) Would you prefer "good" AI to porn inserts of real people?

1-4) Would you prefer "good" AI to DAZ 3D models?

1-5) Would you prefer "good" AI to hand-drawn art?

2) Have you tried making AI art yourself?

This purpose of this thread wasn't to ask about DAZ models but so many people on this site seem to prefer them that I am also curious about

3-1) If you prefer 3D models, is it because they are more likely to be animated?

3-2) If "good" AI was animated just as often, would you still prefer DAZ assets?

4-1) If you prefer 3D models, is it because you associate them with a less-anime look?

4-2) If AI art looked more realistic instead of having an anime look, would you still prefer 3D models?
1-1) I mean, yeah, but that is probably far off. Improvements to those specific problems seem to have stagnated.

1-2) Depends. Hot swap with generation mid game, no. Before game, sure.

1-3) Hell yeah, anything but real people. If i wanted real people, I'd go to pornhub.

1-4) Yup, I get that uncanny valley effect with 3dcgs, so no image is better than any 3dcg.

1-5) Nope. The best AI can ever possible do, is mimic human made art. And that is considering your definition of good AI art before.

2) Yup, for low effort stuff, and to sate curiousity.

3-X and 4-X) I'm the wrong audience for these questions, as i generally dislike 3dcgs. So my input doesn't matter. I'll leave that to the people who enjoy it.

I don't mind AI assisted art in games. That's when AI is used to artificially animate still images of premade assets. But when AI art are the assets, that's when things get lazy and lack substance. Like having no (animated) sex scenes and there being mostly solo pin-up portraits of the characters. And some of those portraits are so lazily rendered they aren't even pngs with transparency. They're jpegs with a background and stick out like a sore thumb inside the game.

Another very valid use is to draw the boring background art. Not the backgrounds that are needed to set the scene, but the really boring standard ones. Forests, cityscapes, and other simple backgounds that the player doesn't focus on. Those can be AI as much as you want them to.

I generally dislike AI in games because the art all comes out kind of samey if that makes sense. Also i dislike that details often change between scenes. I think it has potential. I just haven't seen anyone create an ai art game I enjoy yet. Hopefully that changes

I like ai art if it's good, the problem is that a lot of it isn't, but I'm sure that it will get there eventually.

If it takes update times from months to weeks, then I'm all for it.
I don't hate on it, but the technology isn't there yet. Especially for animations, Dreamer Life is trying hard but the characters look different in every scene and switch from white to asian in every other animation.
