AI art is mostly fine for activating the reptile brain, but it's not actually compelling the same way well-drawn art or well-crafted 3D stuff is. I see it as kind of like fast food, it's consistently hot and tastes inoffensive, but you're not going to remember it 10 minutes later unlike well-made food. But it's still better than burned or undercooked food, i.e. bad art.

If you don’t spend even a minimal amount of time to deliver something at least decent, I’m not going to waste my time playing a pseudo game by a pseudo artist.

AI is a great tool to speed up game development, but what many people do is rely on AI expecting it to do everything, from models to programming. The art direction ends up terrible, the programming buggy, and even if the images look appealing, there will still be anatomical errors that the dev won’t be able to identify, because they never actually created art, they were just pressing buttons.

Aside from the art itself, I dislike how fast it is to produce. It means there's a lot of slop that gets pushed out, hiding the actual good work. I have no problem with AI art, well edited, in a decently constructed game.

It's the lack of consistency for me. I've played a couple games that just used AI for concepts and such, and those were fine, but fully ai gen games just have this cheap, "sloppy" feel to them, where a lot of the time the style or appearances of the characters completely switches between scenes. It just takes me out of it.

I'd much rather play a shorter, human made game than a longer AI made game that has no passion behind it.

I have personal objections to AI models and AI image generators, largely related to the fact that the models are essentially built of off stolen work and that larger generators are massive resource hogs. I live in a desert and the last thing we need around here is an AI data center sucking up all the water.

Simple most people used ai "art" to push as much slop as possible. And if they want make good ai pict the amount time and resource to generate proper and good ai pict is a lot.

Its easier and quicker to just learn to draw making it even more reason for them to put less effort just "Printing Slop"

Dudes program the game via AI and the game contains AI art........what exactly did the person do? Nothing

for every 1 good idea there is 100 crappy copy-cats.
if you want to make drawings of nude girls, you need to know how to draw nude girls.
no amount of AI is going to make you better at it.

but there is a potential for money to be made so you have people throw something in AI like "make a porn game with hot grils and big breasts" and then wonder why they have a broken VN about a Webber cooking a chicken. AI slop - no understanding of how to draw naked girls and no understanding of how to use AI

AI is a tool for art, and far too many people are shipping the equivalent of stick figures, Good AI art you cant really tell is AI, because the time was spent to make it not generic.
