Is stable diffusion hard to set up and get to work

It's not really labelled stable diffusion anymore but no it's not hard to setup. I loaded up ComfyUI and picked up on it quickly. Do you have a decent graphics card? If you do, then I can explain how I got it setup.

Novel AI is pretty good. You have to pay but you get almost unlimited images at lower quality. Mostly designed for anime style but with the right prompts you get semi realistic stuff. No restrictions as well. Like NONE at all you can make anything you could imagine.

I haven't seen anything better than perchance - especially with AI chat. you get a sexy woman and then sext with her. kinda fun (wife doesn't put out so i gotta get it somewhere that won't cost me LOL)

comfyui local (portable), with some random checkpoints i found on civitai

works fine, ofc the better the image you want the longer it takes, im running a 4080 and with the settings i use a image take 8-10s for quick stuff

hardest part it the prompt, sometimes it feels like it just ignore half of what you want

With the checkpoints, thats basically stuff that other people have taught their AI and uploaded? So like, anything derived from them will have the same common base?

Try out Flux 2 Krea GonzaLomo, you can find the checkpoints on Civitai

Gives great results IMO
