I know it´s a bit of an illusion, but sandbox for me because it gives more af feeling of choice.

There are many decent visual novels, but I prefer RPG games such as games from NLT-Media

Massively prefer sandbox but in a good way with each characters having their own story, don't know if it counts as sandbox but one of my recent favourites was dorm manager

VN but NOT kinetic novel, as that isn't a game. Too many sandbox aren't really open world, they are instead guess the 1 right place to go and usually lots of grind. Grind sucks ass.

sandbox, most the times those let me pick which routes/girls i prefer to go after and also lets me grind points in w/e which i do in most games i play.

I like the games that go through the days of the week and where you have to figure things out....like deviant anomalies, or shattered minds

sandboxes and ren'py VNs with multiple paths
but only if there are not too many of them, because it is inconvenient to separate saves

Yup, a good sandbox and choices that matter can really make a game feel real.
But too much of either can break it fast.

I like multiple path to. But i really dont like griding mini-game

VN's with branching paths and choices. Always nice to replay a game but go down a different path.

Having grinding is a bad thing. Anything RPGmaker is unplayable.

What do these things mean:

RPGmaker
sandbox games
kinetic novel

VN with fewer choices let the author actually tell a story are great

Sandboxes where the player meaningfully controls the story are great

VNs that pretend to be sandboxes by throwing in grinding and 'where's the next scene' guessing games are garbage
Agree with all of that.

Agree, that KNs are not "games", but if they are well done, they are just entertaining and enjoyable as a nice story told.
And yes, in many sandboxes, the grind is too high and too repetitive for me to be enjoyable.
I also hate it, if I have to read the authors mind because the choice results are unforseeable and totally illogical. I don't wanna play choice-lottery created by a sadist.

What do these things mean:

RPGmaker
sandbox games
kinetic novel

RPGmaker: A program that is used to make games. These games usually have a common style that feels grindy
Sandbox games: A game that is intended to be very flexible in what you can do. Also used to describe games that mechanically suggest that flexibility even if they do not have it
Kinetic Novel: A Visual novel that does not contain choices. Often used derisively

VNs are just less hassle, especially if the developer leaves the open world with little to no content

VNs with 2 or 3 easy to follow paths. Like good/romantic/love path and the opposite :devilish:
