discussion Do you play your own music in games?

I can't stand listening to the ambient buzz of my headphones, if a game doesn't have BGM I'm turning Spotify on and putting on my own. I'm also often high so typically I'm already on my own music too.

Likewise. I do like listening to video game soundtracks while at work or doing other tasks so I tend to keep the original music on for games. Though I guess it really depends on the game but in general, I tend to just use the game's own music and soundtrack when playing games.

I mean in non-H games. Do you stick with in-game soundtrack, do you mute it or do you put your own playlist? For me there are some games that have lack of track variety and if they're long I usually play some random playlist with a music that's close to the game's tone. If I play mindless shooters or pvp games I usually put on some energetic jam to keep myself pumped. You?

Tbh I always play my own music no matter what even if the game OST is awesome or immersive. I just love my own music for some reason it doesnt matter to me lol

in h games I just use my own playlist, the only exceptions for atmospheric games ( for now only myst qualified)
in normal game the in game soundtrack is fine, unless I'm grinding stuff

If the game's got non-stellar music I usually mute it and put on whatever I happen to be listening to that week.

I remember some games also had custom soundtracks in game if you ripped off your cds. mostly on pc and og xbox due to hard disk. now you can't even do that

If its a game I have played many times and I will play my own music. Like if I am playing Elden Ring and I am running on Torrent through Limgrave I will play my own music. Usually play music when I get parts I know are very uninteresting.

For most games I stick to the in-game soundtrack, but there are a few where it either sucks or I've listened to it so many times it's now grating. I can't listen to the Minecraft ambient music anymore for example.

Same, after more than a decade that ambient music really got stale =)

Depends, If theres no music the defeating silence gets to you. If theres a soundtrack that loops for wayyy too long then yeah I'll switch to my own. Theres a reason why in the room where its completely silent, spending a few mins in there would drive people mad

Usually I'll start a game and listen to it's soundtrack for the first bit. If it's online or I've played it a good bit already I'll throw on my own tunes in the background.
