What kind of game-play do you prefer for your adult titles?

I feel that over 80% of the adult games I play are straight visual novels, with a few "offering" sandbox play. I understand that those are the easier kinds of game-play to support, but what do you prefer? Straight VNs? VN+something? Non-VN game-play? Examples would be helpful.

RPGM games with no combat are bae, the Natyusyo jawn that just came out was a great example, the only difficulty comes from collecting some stuff across the map and the "gameplay" just serves to add context to scenes making them spicier. Renpy as a VN is kind of boring, but Renpy when they turn it into an actual game like Four Elements Trainer can be fun given they don't just turn it into "grind for 2 hours to see the next scene ".

A few years ago I hatet them, now I play the old ones really often. RPG Games. But yeah you are right. Mostly Visual Novels

I didnt mind the Chloe18 and that Big Brother game back in the day, also enjoyd Treasure of Nadias gameplay tough I did not like the models, now its mostly just VN, simple fun

I prefer straight up visual VN's with some choices that matter. As most sandbox's in VN's are usually a waste of time that end up frustrating.

Now it someone got the budget to make an actual 3D open world Action RPG that wast unity then I'd enjoy that as well.

I'm probably an outlier here. I prefer "sandbox style" more than anything, but I'm kinda picky about how a game is designed whether I enjoy it or not. Sandbox style has to have good characters, writing, and story, a light grind and not so heavy it becomes too repetitive and dull, bonus points for good mechanics like corruption, fighting, finding hidden secrets, extra scenes etc. It has to be both engaging and immersive. Straight VN I can get into if it's a very good story, writing, and characters. enough to keep my attention in the story. If it loses me at any point, I'll end up getting bored and either stopping playing, or fast-forwarding a lot to see the story unfold more through the art than text.

I'm having a hard time putting up with VN these days. I like the RPG style of Trasures of Nadia, for example.

Straight VNs is the most secure choice, but Treasure of Nadia has pretty good gameplay.

most of my favorites are sandboxes. i like progressive nudity and lots of non sexual yet sexy scenes containing some amount of teasing or nudity before sex like in big brother and man of the house.

I think both can be done well but it has to be in Renpy. Dont know why, just feels better.

I like having a sandbox to explore, but VNs (both a a single narrative through line or as branching options) are good too
