I usually get the initial release. When I really like one I know I will never see another release happen. So if it does, I'm pleasantly surprised.

I'm the opposite. I used to say to myself I only play and support completed games. That went out the window though, as these games take years to complete so why wait so long

Usually I go for games with at least three substantial updates. What I really do not like are small demo versions. Just frustrating to play if it is really well done.

I like to wait a good few releases, only problem is I often forget about them before I even get a taste

If it catches my eye, I will jump in early. If it has minimum content I may give it an update or two.

If the game looks good, as soon as I discover it. I've been finding myself ignoring games until they've been around for a few updates though

It's all about update frequency for me. Whenever I see a game with 7 or so months in between updates I lose interest

It really depends on how bored I am. Sometimes I jump in on the initial release.

If the description sounds good without being vague, I jump in on the first release. If the write-up is lackluster, vague, or sounds like 5 other games, I wait for the version 0.03. By that point the dev usually knows if it's something they want to stick with or if they got bored/frustrated.

I usually start jump in at the first version or the first one I find it at, but when I jump back in after depends on my interest and the update size

If it look's good I'll start 0.1, but I usually like to wait 2-3 updates before going back in.

i look at size of file, atleast 1gb is a good point to jump in

I go for 0.1 , then if it's any good I'll give it a few updates just for a less disjointed story line.

If it's a developer who has completed several games before, I'm willing to start with the first version. However, if it's a new developer, I'll usually wait for 3-4 updates.
