What version number do you jump in at?

0.3 or 0.4, maybe later if it looks like a really slow burner.

I don't usually go by version number cause some devs just choose the most insane shit for versioning. I look at games that have been around at least a year and then check the change log to see how many updates its had and how significant they were.

I usually jump in the 3rd update if I feel like there is enough content or more than likely I try it out in its 5th update. After playing the game I figure out if I want to continue playing it in the future.

Maybe around 6 updates in, but that can change depending on reviews and how the preview renders look

Usually I wait for 0.3 at least, I can start a game on 0.1 if there's a 1.000+ renders in the first release, but also I'll push a game to 0.5 if there's very few renders per update.

It'll depend on the feedback and comments. It sucks when a game is abandoned , but then again I dont mind starting on a game thats been abandoned if there is good comments.

Prefer to wait for at least 4 or 5 updates so that there is actually some content.

I usually avoid 0.1, unless I find the preview pictures very promising. Normally, I jump in at version 0.3, because there has been a time period when many games would get abandoned at 0.1 or 0.2 and it was a great disappointment for me.

when there are a lot tiny updates i wait some time, bigger updates looking in every update

usually i wait for at least one complete chapter, but if the game doesnt have chapters ill jump in at around 0.8, to see where its going, but honestly the comments on a game tell me more than the version number

For me its less about version number and more about the preview images and initial feedback although seeing how so many in the thread are more willing to start at around a verion 0.3 makes me wonder if devs could matagame it by starting there

If the preview looks nice, I try it even if it's in 0.1 and if I like it, I set it aside until there is at least a finished storyline. For four elements trainer for example, I waited until a route was finished to play it then I didn't play until the next one was done.

I thought I'd start a discussion on a topic I am genuinely interested in - rather than the topics that are being started simply to score engagement/points/coins/credits/wishes/etc. I really would like to know peoples opinion on this!
When a game is added... Are you someone who will play anything and everything? Or do you wait for a certain level of finish? Do you only play Complete games? Or what?
For me... when I first found these games, I would play everything - regardless of when it released or how often it was updated - now though, I find myself only really playing Completed games unless something really catches my eye. I've realised the sheer number of games, even playing Completed games takes awhile.

That said, there's a few games I picked up at the start which I eagerly watch updates for... But then I try and wait, so I can pick them up with a large update of content.
The CG or artwork and the review. Really love the game that had the perfect blend of the two.

Oh and how frequent the game update. Its really a shame that a game have a lovely CG and a good writing but at an abandoned state

wait for many updates before playing the game
never give my opinion on 0.1

its all about the grind

Not a huge fan of waiting for updates all the time so I generally try to go for the completed games. That saying I will occasionally try a game after a few updates if the reviews seem solid. Maybe 0.4 earliest or so?

Prefer to play Completed games. Completed meaning the dev does not intend to provide anymore updates other then maybe a few fixes/patches. So by this definition, I also play Abandoned games too.

depends, i have played games at .01 with more content(that is quality too) than games at .9

I prefer waiting for completed (when it seems close I just wait) and for the ongoing I look more at how long it's been in development vs how interested I am in the story/characters/tags. For example I played eternum at the first release and then again just over a month ago. But others that seems generic I just might wait for 2 years just to ensure that there would be at least some content I fully enjoy or there being an intriguing start of a story
