What the fuck indeed my friend, what the fuck indeed. It is said that German physicist Ernst Chaldni was once savagely assaulted by his stern and deeply religious grandfather ostensibly because he had merely discovered the writings of Sufi luminaries such as Rami and Hafez. The truth is that Chaldni in his youthful exuberance had began to relay the story of the sufi weaver to his younger sister, and for his desire to share these orphic revelations about reality he was very nearly killed by the violent ideological intransigence of an orthodox mind. Chaldni would go on to study the patterns and laws of resonances and vibrations, famously creating the eponymous figures that I believe would not be out of place in Sufi esoterica themselves. When I look at this image I ask myself, am I peering into the convulsive expression of a mind skating at the margins of orthodoxy, hoping to burst free from the same sort of quotidian antecedents? Am I privy to the nascent discovery of laws and patterns describing a different sort of resonance or some new axis of vibration? I don't know, but I'm reveling in the possibility.IMAGE 2 - WTF?
