How do you feel about voiced VN?

While I do actively turn off sound and music a game I recommend people try and keep sound on for is Love Sucks and Love Sucks Night Two.
Phenomenal art and voice acting for those.

always mute music but if there is voice acting it 100% makes the game better. recent NTRMan games have voice acting and its amazing.

Does it depend on the quality of the voice-over? I can see a poor performance taking away from the experience. But if it was really professional, would voice-over be more considered?
Now what if games and VNs started adding AI generated voice lines that sounded professional: Better or Worse in regards to preference?

If I know it is a professional job then I turn it on for sure to atleast give it a try.
But AI voice lines just sound square and unnatural and is very off-putting.

Don't really care for voice overs in AVNs I tend to mute the audio anyway.

It depends if I like the VA's voice-over. I like having voices when it helps give me a impression of how a character talks and/or their vibe. Not having voices isn't a big deal though. I think sound effects do more to enhance scenes than voices do.

I have seen very few that have fully voiced lines, most of them are only 1 or 2 characters, it would be neat if there was full VA, but most of the time it just pulls me out of the immersion if it swaps back and forth. I tend to just mute it.

I always mute VA if there is any. Maybe it's just me, but every time I hear sex scene VA I imagine process of recording it - some guy or girl sitting in an empty room and moaning into microphone. Kind of awkward to me and kills the mood.

I was actually thinking of trying to voice some existing VN's (for myself as a test), the AI is getting much better with emotions and not sounding so terrible (F5-TTS as example - light on resources and pretty good results).
Conclusion: Voices are reasonably good actually (AAA games are a good source with different emotions), but the effects are not there yet. Coughing, sneezing etc breaks the immersion when they just say the word cough lol. Can't be bothered to manually edit the script.
It also probably adds yet another risk to devs, the original voice actors may not take kindly to the port into loli games :ROFLMAO:

I'm not a fan of voiced VN'S, that been said some VN'S do a pretty good gob at it.

Not a fan. In some games, not all of the characters are voiced, so it just confuses the storyline.
Normally I untick the box or move the slider to zero.

Voiced dialog is always an issue for me, even in normal games. I don't know if I read fast or what, but I don't have time to wait for the voices to catch up when I'm reading. Plus, honestly ... it feels cringe most of the time. I feel bad saying that because people have obviously gone to great lengths to get voice actors, but it feels off to me. I can give them a voice in my head that's much more convincing anyway.

Anyone watch ASMR stuff? Listening to voiced characters is sort of the way I view ASMR role play videos. Just doesn't do it for me.

Plus, if I keep the audio on I'm running the risk of busting an ear drum from a sound effect, despite being at 0.001% volume.

It can be an added bit of polish but I'd prefer for the developer to spend their resources on something else first.
The biggest downside is the enforced maximum pace if you want to hear the lines, id your pace is too fast the lines are wasted.
When the recordings are low quality or in a language I don't speak then I'll probably disable them.

They would have to spend a lot of money or effort on professional voice acting to get something acceptable. And even then I might switch the sound off because it's too slow.

I'm fine with it, as long as the voice acting isn't cringe or amateurish, and feels somewhat professional where it makes the interaction in-game as immersive.

It's pretty rare and I guess it depends of the voice actor, but most of the time I don't like it. Especially female character in asian games, hate the high pitched voice
