Do you prefer to play games on release day or wait a while?

really depends on the game, I played cyberpunk on day one with all the bugs and it was still fun

I wait. People seem to release games that are unfinished and just incase the censor it after release.

I prefer to wait a few months, sometimes a couple years
Used to do it as a financial necessity but now I do it as preference, I'm currently thinking about finally getting Tears of the Kingdom.

i used to just get games on release day. but the new 70$ price tag has made me just wait. But i will play day 1 for games im absolutely hyped for. Though its rare.

Release day to check how the writing and chara design, if good wait a year then play worth 1 year content, but sometimes the game got abandoned in first release, that are the sad part

Def wait. Only draw before to playing right away was to avoid spoilers, but now since I can't play more than an hour at a time, it doesn't really matter

I really don't see myself playing anything but Rogue-lites until GTA6 comes out, anyway.

definitely wait a while this allow for all the patches/mods that i use to get caught up and be updated

If its a multiplayer game im interested in - i will buy on day one despite the bugs - don't want to get left behind in the skill gap. Single player titles vary alot - if its from a studio know for polishing their releases then im comfortable buying it on day one even with bug uncertainty because i trust they will address it. Not always tho, that latest forza game is a mess and i thought that studio was pretty solid before...

Luckily my passion for gaming is declining so the urge to buy day one is pretty non existent

Oh man, that game lol, thankfully with all the backlash they finally delivered what they promised but what a rough ride.

That depends. Certain titles I almost always buy right away.

Fable
Zelda
Metroid

Other franchises I typically wait a looooong time until they're stable and on sale.

Like to wait for the updates. Actually suits me better.

Depends on the game, I play genshin so i play the patches on day 1 but for other gamer i usually leave it a few days for optimised drivers to be released so i can get a proper stable experience

For single player games I don't mind waiting till all the bugs are ironed out, but mmo's I like playing on launch.

I like to have a quick look into the games but then wait a while to see they are not abandoned, though they usually are :(

if it s good play it at release so that you can not forgotten it at a later days

At release, the only information you have about a game is from promotional materials. Shortly after release, you are getting reactions from people whose hype overwhelms their good judgement.

Depends on the game, if its a ported game from console I wait to see how optimized the game is, if its a company that I trust I pre order it and take a week or two oof work to play it....

Adult games right away, so as to see potentially censored content. AAA games wait until bugs are fixed.
