Do you download and play games immediately when they are first released? Or do you wait for second, third or more releases before playing?

I think the art sells the game. If the art looks great I will give it shot even if its a version 0.01

No. I mostly prefer to play once the game is more than halfway done.

Given the kind of games I enjoy, a lot of the corruption payoff is deeper into the game, so I try to wait until there's at least a fully realized arc or two. I want something to take up some time before I'm willing to download it.

Depends on the game. If the game has a unique or interesting gameplay concept, I'm usually willing to try out a first release, just to see if it is worth watching. If I'm interested in the story or art, I'm more likely to wait for a few releases so I know it isn't immediately abandoned. Also, depends on checking the comments to see how much content is actually there.

I've followed many games from initial release to completion, but also lost more games to abandonment.
Even with all of the dropped titles it was still worth it. If I waited for them I would have never seen what some of the best ones were.

Generally try to wait for a game to be fairly well established before giving it a shot. However, sometimes a new game from a developer that has already released a game I enjoy will break that habit.

It really depends on the developer too, if it is something that is added to regularly or is smaller updates I’ll wait until it’s built up a bit

I check the latest updates, if the game piques my interest, I download it without worrying about whether it’s just been released or not

When a game releases, I usually wait for 1.1 or 1.2 release and then check if the dev has any plans to release additional content/changes in the future.

It varies a lot for me. I think if it looks like a good time to jump in and I'll get something out of it, I will.
I would say that more often than not, I end up waiting until the next update.

I don't usually bother waiting. Updates can take forever or never come, so if I'm interested in it I play it. If I like it I'll add it to a list to check for updates later.

I prefer spending my free time collecting games that I might want to play at some point.

Sometimes this can be a good thing, but it can also be a bit problematic. Not every developer considers compatibility with saves from older versions, so after I finish a game, if I really enjoyed it, I usually check whether there’s a newer version available so I can keep up with the updates.

However, if the new version requires me to start from the beginning again, I usually look for CGs, changelogs, or other information to see what I missed before deciding whether it’s worth replaying the whole thing

Im the guy who downloads all the games and will wait, forget what I've downloaded apart from one, play that one, delete some to make space for more, since and repeat lol
