Do you change the MC's name and to what?

I usually use the default names on the first play through. If I go for other routes in the same game I sometimes change to a different name to separate the routes.

A couple times I have renamed LIs after people I know .. but mostly not.

I wish that developers would add the following when there is a name change interface ...
  • Keep a list of all names used in the game.
  • When the player enters a name, check it against the list.
  • If there is a match, notify the user and let them still use it or go back and pick something different.
  • Bonus points for replacing the NPC name with something else if the user selects a duplicate name. (if there is a NPC "Jake" and user chooses "Jake" for MC .. game could change "Jake" NPC to something like "Jack")

I usually change it to my Baldur's Gate character name that I used from the first game up to and including Throne of Bhaal. Braq Von Tsar. And I change the LI's names to cool names like Tris, Pepper, Kat, or Gwenyth or Kymber. I can't help it but Sophia or Emma just doesn't do it for me.

If I play as a male character, I will name the character (John). If it is a female, I will keep it as it is and not change anything.

I'll usually go with the default name. If there is none, or I'm in the mood for some personalization, I'll name them Bob. Not my real name, but I name every male character Bob.

Yes. When there is no default name in the game I usually go with "jack" .. which is not part of my real name .. because one the first AVN I played that I liked had the character named Jack .. so it has good association for me.

I change it when possible I have a favorite name.

I change it to my username (not this one but another). It seems weird to essentially watch another character having sex rather than my own stand in.

I Just put my own name, I like to self insert and I find strange being called by another name in porn games.

If I'm feeling lazy no, unless i don't like the default name and if i change it, I usually use Ian or Nick, i don't know why

Often yes - there is a stable of names I have, similar to what I assume a lot of other people have.

I always keep the default if there is one. I have never changed the name of the protagonist of a printed novel, and don't understand why anyone does it in a visual novel. If there is no default:

Inigo Jones. Technically, "Inigo" is an innocuous Basque first name, and Inigo Jones was a famous English architect.

But "In I Go Jones [= penis]" is also a pun that fits the behavior of most MCs. There is even a historical song whose punchline is exactly this pun.

Default name if there is one, A, Al or, rarely, Dave if I want to see an actual name.

I change male MC to my name. I find it easier to notice when the MC is mentioned when using my name.
For female npc I either leave default or rename, depends on mood.
For male npc, I usually don't care about them so I rename to Loser or Dork or something like that.
