I played a game recently where the default MC name happened to be the same as my actual first name. Normally I go with whatever the default was, but in this case I changed it to something else. I can explain, but it just feels weird to use my actual name.
I usually go with my real name with the really one exception being BHG where there are so many different protagonists and intertwined stories that it just wouldn't make sense and really mess up both the story and my mind personally.
I have been using either Jimmy or Jimmy McGill for a while now. It just feels right somehow Saul Goodman would be a step too far.
Before being Mr.McGill if I had the choice of name and surname I went with Johnny Silverhand because i found it really funny if the call you Mr.Silverhand
Yes. I like to change it to me own. Dunno, maybe it says more about me than anything else. But I like it, and I like when the option for it is available. And seeing the amount of patches and fixes for it that becomes available for games where you can't pick your own name, I don't think I am alone in this.
Always choose Max Young, it's a name I found that doesn't give me the ick if I apply it to myself.
It does get annoying if there's a character with the same name in the game. I usually end up going back and taking the default name. It would be nice if the dev would factor the custom name in. I mean, if you only get to name the male MC, all the dev needs is one alternate male name, and then as soon as the player picks a name that's the same as an NPC, just swap in the backup name for that MC, it shouldn't be too hard.
I usually use whatever the default name is in a game. However, if I have to pick a name I usually put 'Player' but if it restricts that choice I pick 'Jake'.
