Why do you dislike AI art in games?

It comes down to principle for me. Also, the irony of robots not really making my life easier as an every-man, but instead yet again helping out the mostly wealthy. I want ai to do stuff to make my life more convienent, not take away peoples creativity. I will never support something using ai if I can help it.

AI just lacks the soul of a true creator. Is obvious in all AU "art" it doesn't hold the same passion or creativity as a true artist.

As long as it's done well, I don't have any issues. But almost all the AI games I've played so far have issues with character consistency, sizing, appearance, etc. It's weird to go from one scene where the girl has green eyes and the next she has blue or something.

I don't dislike the art it's usually the quality of the game that is lacking when I see the Ai filter

it just doesn't look right, and the style changes either too rapidly or eerily too similar in different positions, if it was consistent it would probably be best

Despite general reservations regarding AI, I don't really mind AI in games so long as it is well done. But that's a theoretical point as I have never seen a game in which it was well done. This is similar to RPG Maker and adult games. I don't mind RPG Maker games as long as they are well done. Unfortunately that's very rare because the market is full of RPG Maker games that had practically no thought put into them. I like Spiderweb Software games. The developer, Jeff Vogel, has his own game engine, which dates back much further than RPG Maker. I think his games could easily be implemented in RPG Maker. But practically all RPG Maker games are far from this quality. In the area of adult games it's even worse. RPG Maker porn games are either zero effort abominations or were created by someone outright stupid who didn't realize that Ren'Py is a far superior tool for the job in every respect. And almost all share the use of standard RPG mechanics in a way that makes no sense at all as it leads to a frustrating game loop.

I'm wondering when AAA games will be able to put AI personalities behind their NPC's so that you don't always get the scripted replies. Imagine a immersive VR game where the NPC's actually feel like people. that'd be wild

That's actually been in the works. I think 5 years from now there will be a ton of RPGs with AI NPCs.

I guess this goes to all AI use: it isn't bad per se, it's bad when used to compensate for lack of good ideas. If you have a good idea and use AI to improve it, it does a good job. Improve some renders, better your code, something like that. The problem starts when you make the AI do the job for you. It can't take the good ideas out of your head, you need to guide it, make it do the manual labor, not the mental one. AI is a tool, not a brain

Ai at it's current state can't replace art, but i do like when Ai is used to fix art like daz3d old hairs and clothes, and background filling

It feels lazy and lacks creativity it looks good sometimes but it feels soulless

Its like silicon boobs.

Most of the AI games that I've seen all have the same flat look. It's a little hard to describe. I'm optimistic about the future of AI games and animations though.

I'm not allergic to images created by neural networks. In 95% of cases, they look more organic than pictures and videos from the real porn category. Especially if you have a UHD monitor and artifacts of overcompressed pictures from this very real porn cut your eyes. There is no need to talk about video - quality of the late 90'sl. Remember MPEG 1?
No, I will always prefer AI to this crap. The main thing is that there were no extra joints and the number of fingers and toes would be normal:)

I don't. If it's well done, you can do amazing things with AI art. But more often than not, AI is just used instead of skill. Out of laziness or ineptness. And that shows.

So, basically, it is like any other automation tool. (like procedural generation, for example) If used correctly, you gain from it. If used to replace brain, it sucks.

It depends on the quality and what it's being used for. It can be great for making backdrops that you render or hand-draw characters to go on top.

AI art is basically theft (art theft, personal image theft). Most NSFW artists already suffer from the stigma of what they do, and now AI is just stealing their art style. I could not support a game using a recognizable art style that's clearly not the original artist.

little caveat. I do not explicitly condemn personal use of ai art as I can see a few uses for it, but I do condemn monetizing it and/or not crediting the original artist.
NSFW artists need much more love!

I don't particularly dislike games with AI, I just haven't seen a good one so far. If I find a good one, maybe one where I can barely even tell its AI art, I would play it with no issues.
