Frankly way to many bugs, non stop freezing and data loss, to long to move place to place, and frankly just want a one hand fap experience with no go here do this and it takes like 3-5 min

It is rather unpractical to play in RPGM to be honest.

I've played some games on the RPG platform, but I think it's a little dated, some games are very rigid. Anyway, some are very good.

quite a few game i enjoy came from RPGM, the Sequel games, a lot of kagura games, MGQ paradox. to name a few i am curious to see why they get a lot of hate compared to other engines.
i think the engine is limited and forces your gameplay in a specific direction.

Bugs, sound effects, hold to run, maps...especially the maps. Graphics on the overworld remind me of a primitive Legend of Zelda. No thanks.

RPGM was fine, back in the 90's. I haven't seen a single RPGM game that didn't look like a bad Commodore 64 game written in BASIC. A visual novel? Use Ren'Py. A true RPG? Use Unity or Godot.

super annoying, I remember playing Summer with Mia rpgm and would never do it again. It's too annoying compared to a renpy game to be worth the time imo.

RPGM is basically a starting platform for RPG. There are way better platforms to play RPG nowadays, especially when the RPGM system is identical to one another. I'd argue that RPGM is mainly used for easy story-telling game with preset assets available to be used to fill up NPCs.

Too grindy and clunky. The worst are the ones where they try to make a VN on a RPG platform. It's like driving screws with a hammer. Wrong tool for the job...

Exactly! There's absolutely no reason to ever use rpgm for a vn. Every aspect of rpgm is pure tedium in gameboy graphics on top of that. Permanently on the filtered out engines list for me

It's garbage period, extremely outdated graphics outside of added scenes, and walking around trying to find where to go is a severe pain in the ass - on par with a hemorrhoid spurting blood and pus. For adult games it's especially bad. It shouldn't be allowed.

Apart from the gameplay, which I believe, unless you need the fighting mechanism, a little limited, I always experienced memory leak issues when playing rpgm games so at some point I just stopped.

Clunky to play and usually doesn't have a way of reviewing previous scenes.

I grew up on the clunkyness and grown to like it. But I do see how most people would not like it. Sadly most of the porn I like uses that engine

I try to keep pixel art in dos mode.
Also lots of rpgm games dont even have mouse support and i prefer to to limit keyboard navigation to real games with free movement and a variety of skills/spells.
