depends how good the writing is. if I can imagine myself as the mc it is much easier to not hold ctrl but if its cringey get me to the scenes asap

For most of the game I like to use the "skip unseen text" option. I try to read the story but some time i cant just stand and skip a bit or all of it. Sometimes y all the game and sometimes specific chars stories that dont like.

Which are those game that you download but play holding the CTRL?
Me with games that the dialogue is pointless or unnecessary

Not me, the author has taken the effort to come up with a story, so I make the effort to read it. (y)
I only skip scenes that don't interest me, if they belong to a kind of fetish that I can't identify with.
Unfortunately, most games include as many types of fetishes as possible to increase their reach and please as many players as possible, so this happens more often than I would like.
But I don't play the games just to find the explicit scenes and... You know what I mean! ;)

I skip only when i replay games or when i just want to return to specific moment to fap

Depends.
Ill load up a new game and skip text to see how quickly it gets into the action, ill blast through a few scenes to get a feel for the pacing. if its good ill starto ver and read through the whole game.
If the scenes and broad strokes of the story are good, but there is a lot of text, ill skip through it doubling back once i hit a scene to get an idea of whats happening.
Once i get the end of the game once, if multiple paths are present ill, ill then go throug hthe game again skipping all previously seen text until i get to new unseen content.

Only if im getting really bored or if the story is only teasing with no content

Yeah I'd use "skip unseen text" option if the game is boring af but have good scenes, is grindy or i've lost save. But I'm trying to not "play" like that if the game is genuinely good

i only hold ctrl on super grindy games that have you repeating the same scene over and over again.

i also have a button on my mouse mapped to ctrl....my other hand is occupied

Practically never. As a rule, games that interest me and whose development I follow closely have a fairly compelling storyline. But if a game/VN doesn't live up to my expectations, then yes, before deleting it, I scroll through it to make sure that this game has no place on my HDD.

Please excuse my poor English. I use a machine translator.

I have to say, I often do that to see if there are any nice scenes, that would make me want to read the stuff...

I also see often with games like Nephilim or so that they talk too much. So I just start to skip the stuff...

Quite often. When I don't like what's happening, when I have to start from the beginning, when I only want to get to the good part

Me. I do that all the time until the scene comes.

I use CTRL when:
1) the dialogues are too long
2) i don't like the story (but i like the rendering and the sex scenes)
3) i was in hype for the update (but then i play again the update reading all dialogues)
4) there's a sex scene i'm not interested in watching
5) it is necessary start a new game because the saves don't work after update
