  • Donation Rewards & Vault Credit System Update
A new important update has been posted covering the Donation Rewards bug, the reset of incorrect Donation and Platinum credits, the upcoming reclaim system for previous tracked donations, and the new Vault freeze/maintenance behavior. The goal is to remove bug-generated credits, protect real donation history, and rebuild the system in a cleaner and safer way going forward. - Jack Of Blades

If its a scene I've seen before (Especially in grindy games) then I'll hold control. Admittedly, I will also do so in games with multiple love interests and I'm doing a route I don't super care for haha. Otherwise I try to read the majority of text, or at least skim it.

Though there are only so many times where you can playthrough "My Dad's Dead, now my Mom, SIs and the entire neighborhood wanna fuck me" before things get a bit expected

Only for repeatable scenes or when I've restarted a game and I want to quickly get to a specific step.

When it's not a Renpy games (and can't use URM) (usually a Japanese game). I use skip button when the UI is unreadable for me

I usually skip for games early in development - just to check if the game is even worth following.

I've found myself skipping a lot of narration in the last few updates of Grandma's House, because I've really started noticing how repetitive and formulaic the writing is, but I'm at least a little invested in the story (what there is of it) for some reason.

When the dev thinks he's like Dostoevski or something and writes hours worth of boring dialogue between anything good.

Just yesterday I used the Ctrl key excessively in The List. It's an outstanding thriller in the vampire milieu. However, at the beginning / end of each chapter (12 chapters so far) there is a recap narrated by two of the characters. It's way too wordy with a lot of banter, and way too low on actual content. Recaps can be very useful when you return months later to play the latest version. Being a DIK does it particularly well. But these recaps are just annoying and skipped them all. Also in The List, I skipped many of the love scenes because I got the impression that the graphics were all created by switching the female model in just a few scripts. (That said, I actually recommend The List for its plot. It's not quite Eternum level, but very well done indeed.)

I try to avoid it but clinically depressed MC tends to annoy me after a while so eventually I start to skip the drama and inner conflict if they are to heavy on it.

When I'm testing a game to check the quality of the videos, I use this feature.
Then, when I really like a game, I start it again, taking the time to read the story.

I have talked a lot on the same subject but I would like to talk again. As far as I see here, I have to say this. If the game is bad, if the visuals and story are bad, I would say that after holding down CTRL for a while, even without finishing the game, press X from the top right and close the window, come to the folder where the game is located and select that folder. After selecting it, there were also games that I removed from myself with Shift + Del keys in a way that would not allow it to enter my computer again.

It actually says a lot about a large portion on AVNs that I can play while skipping large chunks of the story and still follow along perfectly. Hint: It means that skipping is warranted, because your storytelling is way too drawn out and repetitive.

But there are some really quality titles where skipping doesn't work and neither do I want to because I'm actually truly invested in the story.

Exactly. It's like - you're making a porn game, not writing a novel the size of War and Peace (or longer.) Some devs have diarrhea of the fingers.

Jamming a coin to ctrl to rest my fingers actually. An old trick from mmorpg games...

Only if i need to restart, i dont skip unseen text.

What about if it's one where the dev is total "bla bla bla" and it would be like hours of tedious bullshit before seeing a sex scene?

yup, it happens, even when i decide I want to read certain games, I end pushing crtl for minutes till people shut up and fuck

Yeah, I skip almost everything until I find out what kind of game I'm playing. Sadly, the writing is mostly tedious.
