I have the feeling that every times AI make a step forward humanity is taking a step backward. I see a lot of new technology everyday but nothing to advance us as human beings, only things making us more and more lazy and weak.

My opinion in the matter is that in a few years humans will become irrelevant if we continue on this path. Technology is nice to make our life easier but we should not forget what it means to be human and that a satisfying life is not a life without struggle.

What you guys think?

Not in few years, but yes. may be couple decades, if humanity manages to postpone nuclear war for so long.

The current stuff isn't going to destroy humanity, it's just going to make things worse for everyone. Lazy people will get lazier, and interesting, creative people will struggle to find work. Humanity destroying ai would require some sort of further technological breakthrough.

itll make the wealthy people wealthier, thats for sure. As for destroy the world, i dont think so, just a lot of pain and suffering for those not worthy enough to be in the top 1%

It's really tough to say. I flip flop on this every time I see new stuff printed about the available tools. Might destroy the world, might be revolutionary in technical fields, who knows at this point.

Destroy it, but not for the reasons most people think. It used to be pretty easy to spot AI pics and videos, but it's now pretty hard and will only get harder as the AI improves.

People will post political AI stuff that is fake and pass it off as real to piss people off. Most people won't bother to confirm the validity of it because it reinforces their echo chamber. It will drive up tension and anger until something snaps and causes massive social unrest and drives once stable nations into low grade civil war.

It will be similar to Northern Ireland during the troubles, but on a much larger and more violent scale.

I feel like AI will eventually help humanity, but it's gonna first get worse before that

Ultimately it will become like any other tool, used mostly for good but can be misused.

The fact there are people who killed themselves due to developing Psychosis form constant use and exposure to AI is horrifying

I'm trusting the experts when they say this technology has the potential to wipe out humanity.

But between now and moment ASI kills us all, I'm expecting some crazy—and en net positive—things to happen.

AI still isn't good enough to produce pornographic photos, videos, or games that don't give me the “ick” and leave my little soldier unimpressed, though. My personal benchmark for judging AI progress is still my weenie.

This but its also killing itslef

Everyone should step back and read into website traffic before 2018 and today AI is not new per say but the monster today has grown up so much its eating each other.

Every Ai google/meta/chatgbt/grok what ever is fed information that is then offered to the user that info is never fact checked but also 100% stolen the people that created the information loose traffic to there site which inturn shrinks and or kille revenue stream eventually killing the site.

Authors of books/vo workers art creators all are getting there shit stolen the thrown back in there face as there laid off.

But as the source well dries up at a rapid pace the ai needs to create content but then when a GEMI makes a post chat gbt goes oh that is a fact then spits it out we are no longer getting real information from real people in certain questions its not 100% but the death of real people articles in a thing that is happening right now.

Just think if a AI scanning a database of national geographic up to 2024 but now there gone thanks 2 AI so from lets say 2024 that AI scans again but its scanning AI images and AI created articles see my point?. This just happened with a resident evil review.

Apparently chat gbt has gone into the triple digits for user's getting killed off do to the answers.

Seeing that AI is created by many people who despise humanity no I do not see AI being a helper at all. It is merely presented as such so we accept it and get used to it. It will be your overlord, security, slave master. You have a shot to stop it now, yet many people accept the downfall of their own societies all by design destroy the old to usher in the new.

neither, it will take 1 look at us and decide we are doing a good enough job destroying ourselves, it will however plan what to do after

Aside from AI art making the work of human artists non-economical, I feel like beating my meat to AI art is the most ethical use of AI. We should teach AI to like the same things we do.

My beef with AI is that it's the name given to whatever technology automates stuff we already do. It has to be better and faster than us. It sounds religious. If want the sci-fi future even if I'm not around for it. AI will help us get there, but right now the best a lot of people can imagine with AI is faking stuff and stealing identities to get money instead of expanding our horizons. The dead internet theory is real and a community like this one will be some of the last places online that are real.

AI will "destroy" the world, actually already is doing that. Many jobs are getting terminated because of that. Most countrys aren´t ready for this change of having many unemployed. I also don´t think it is sane to have relationships with AI (some korean women got married with an AI, and it is a legal marriage there!).

Yes, steam engines will deprive people of their livelihood, and in general, clouds are a form of the afterlife of steam engines, as everyone knows. In fact, AI is an ordinary working tool, nothing more. This is how it will remain in the coming decades. Whether a machine can think is a philosophical question. In materialist dialectics, there is a concept according to which the evolution of matter goes through several stages. Inanimate matter-biological life-intelligent biological life-artificial intelligence. It looks quite logical, this form of evolution does not frighten me.

I don't particularly think AI will 'destroy' anything. As it stands, I barely qualify what we have as AI, at least not in the Sci-fi sense. I think the whole goal of AI is to help humans, in general We already do things like ask google for answers. And before that we went to libraries or professionals and asked them. This is just the next step in that evolution. I do think we need to create laws and regulations around them though otherwise it could do harm, but I still dont think itd destroy anything.

I'd like to think that ASI (artificial superintelligence) will eventually help us out IF we ask nicely and provide some motivation for it to do so. Trouble would be coming up with anything to offer it that it cannot already get for itself..
