How does everyone keep track of all the games you've played?

I can't keep track so I watch the updates or have their discord saved

Man, I recently played Dreams of Desire and it wasn't until I was halfway through that I realized I'd played it before. I get to play games for the first time all over again, and all it costs me is having terrible memory recall in my day to day life! Yippee.....

When I try out a game, I make sure to index it in different notepads depending on if I have no interest in the game, a "meh" category, and finally an active update one.

I always make sure that I include the latest version, where I found it, and maybe some notes to help me remember what it was about.

What about everyone else? What do you all do, if anything?
Keep games I like in the downloads folder with the current rev. When I think I see a game that looks interesting, I make sure it is a few revs more recent than what I have. I guess I should of a better job of keeping track of games not worth my time.

I extract the images from the games and have a 'best' folder where I put the best images from each game. Makes for a handy archive of what I've played and an easy way to revisit my favorites without having to keep the entire game downloaded and taking up space.

I don’t keep track of games I’ve played but I do keep track of games that I want to play, and I do that by bookmarking them

I just go by memory. If I end up repeat playing something that I don't remember then it doesn't matter that I am repeat playing it, since I don't remember.

I just have list of which games I want to check and looking for them 1-2 times per month

I generally expect myself to remember but I ignore the threads of games I won't play again and watch the threads of game I will definately revisit. I sometimes get a surprise when I download a game and find I already have a save file.

Poorly, using only my memory. This means I miss updates often, but it also means when I do spot an update I have more to play.

Watched/followed threads on sites like this help out a lot.
But I do have backup lists looking something like "Completed/Completed (Awaiting New Update)/Test"

I just remember the games but you can also check the renpy folder where the saves are located

If it's still a work in progress, I'll save the "game" info file in it's own folder. Will I remember that I've done this? Probably not, I'm forgetful AF most of the time.

When I know for sure it's a game I like/will like, I make sure to bookmark that game thread using the forums built-in bookmark function. Then I can always check back later by checking my bookmarks.

I have games that I watch that I download basically everytime then ill browse all the new updates and releases

I have a 2 TB external SSD where I install all my adult games. Via USB C that's fast enough so there are are no issues with Ren'Py games, unlike my previous experiments with standard external hard drives and USB sticks. (I am on Linux, so I reformatted the drive to ext4fs to prevent issues with executable flags and when the drive gets disconnected improperly.) It appears that for the foreseeable future 2 TB is enough for everything I will possibly be interested in. I have a sub-folder for each letter of the alphabet. I store the ZIP files strictly according to the initial letter. After extracting, I rename the folder as "Exact Title (version)", use a script to delete some files that are not needed for Linux, install any mods I want, and delete the ZIP file.

I also have a text file with one line per game (title, latest downloaded version, short personal description/rating), sorted strictly by title, which I store on my computer. It currently lags behind, but it's good for checking if I may want to download a game without attaching the external drive. I should probably automate the updating of this file based on the installed game.
