How do you feel about voiced VN?

I'm not a fan or voiced VNs, I usually listen to music while reading/playing VNs so I mute everything (sometimes I leave the effecs and other sounds on but it's pretty low).
but for voices I feel like they don't match the type of character or tone of the dialogue that is supposed to be said.

I haven't found one I liked yet. Understandably, the voice acting always leaves at least a bit to be desired and is sometimes comically bad (I'm looking at you Beasts in the Sun). In most cases the sound quality of the recording makes the sound clips sound tacked on.

Not a fan.

I think that voiced games are a lot like ghost peppers -- that is that the idea of it is a whole lot more fun than the reality. Generally regardless of the quality I read a LOT faster than someone can voice the lines. so it is just wasted at best and annoying at worst.

I would also mute the game if they had voice acting, doesn't matter if its the best quality but I prefer to go at my own pace

I love it when it's done well and is well thought out but that's hard.
In "Pervert Action Legacy" (by BBBen from around 2017) the voice acting completely made the game. Most of the sex scenes were stills with a bunch of text so the voices did the job of moving the scenes along instead of animation. It felt to me like the voice actors were deeply involved in the creation because they all clearly understood exactly how their characters should sound.

Another game that uses sound really well is "Red Lucy". I honestly don't remember if the characters are voiced or not but the music is amazing.

But yeah, it's hard/expensive to do voice acting well, and you can only cover one language at a time.

Music adds something if the dev really puts some love there. Otherwise it tends to range from neutral to annoying.
Same with voice acting except that there is no neutral.

It all depends on the delivery. If the voice actor is good and the writing is good I really enjoy having it voiced and the "action" sounds on. Also I just really like audio porn anyways. Check out SkittyKat, some great stuff out there.

If it's not AI generated and it's played well, it's cool, but if I don't get it right, it goes full mute

I'm only referring to Japanese games here. Those can be good but they are often also rather generic, especially modern ones. I don't need to have voices but they can make something better or worse. There are also games where voices got added later on, even though the game and the music was designed in a way where no voices were required. Often in those cases, it decreases the overall quality of the game.

Some of the voice acting is of questionable quality but I always try to play with voices ON before muting everything if I find really that bad

I like some music and sounds in AVN, but so far I muted voiced dialogue in all games I played. It just felt weird....
