Generally no. I appreciate that some devs put a lot of effort and dedication into their stories and characters, and truth be told it makes such games more enjoyable.
However I don't get that invested as my primary motivation is arousal and subsequent release.

That depends so much on the game. Good games are able to reach you at an emotional level, if that's what you mean by 'taking serious'.

Occasionally, but very few tend to be of a quality that one can be pulled into the story and characters. Its really nice when a well developed game like that comes along.

Sometimes? It depends, and also largely depends on what you mean by "taking it seriously", because that's really vague.

Sure there are adult VNs that are either batshit insane or just incredibly dumb and are only good for their porn content. I don't take these very seriously.

Some have a decent mix between porn and story. I take these decently seriously.

And then there's a few that tell really actually compelling stories and genuinely manages to make me care about the characters. I take these very seriously, because they deserve it.

it just a way to pass time for me, but have to agree the world is crazy right now and honestly believe its helps keeps things from getting more crazy...well crazier too fast anyways

yes because I feel the necessity for outlets of expression and saddened by lost media. I fell in love with some badly drawn games because they genuinely made me laugh or looked past some flaws if I fall in love with a concept , that it saddens me deeply to have seen some links to some games have died. I think more to keep games coming out and old games alive, people like me are adamant about making others see the importance of these games.

That depends very much on the game.
Some have a compelling story and characters that grow on you. A game like “Haley”, “Desert Stalker” or “Now and Then”, for example,
are games where I am interested in the story or/and the charakters so i take them seriously.
Others, and I don't mean this in a derogatory way, only serve a purpose, which they fulfill more or less well, depending on what you're into and what you want.

Not really, in my case i only look the art of the game, the history is not a big deal for me. You could talk about aliens and i would only look at the alien tits

I just think that you have to differentiate between reality and fiction. If you understand that, everything seems fine to me.

Nope, some of the stories are completely insane. There is no way to take all of them seriously. This does not mean that they are not fun to play though.

You need to suspend a bit of disbelief with porn games. Just like movies, tv shows, really any entertainment medium. If it's well written then that's another story.

I take an honest approach to treat them serious like I would any other non-porn game. If/when the game shows its just about the porn then I shift to treating it as just an experience. I like to believe any porn game is at least created with the intention to be both porn and game, even if the intention doesn't come through.

Of course not. Games in general—not just porn—are fantasies meant to be experienced. That doesn't mean you can't pick up useful things along the way, though.
