After getting to know the NSFW gaming community, I realized that a lot of people are really invested in these games, and while I can see the artistic and sometimes philosophical value in some, I see these games primarily as a way to "release stress", so I became interested in knowing how the "community" in general views these games

Nope, some of the stories are completely insane. There is no way to take all of them seriously. This does not mean that they are not fun to play though.

Kind of missing a third option.
I've sunk a lot of time into TITS, COC, HC 2 and various lewd Paradox Game mods like Tentacled Dreams for CK2. I've also played the hell out of all the Pink Tea games.

Give me something interesting to fiddle around with and my ADD brain will kick in and hyperfocus on it.

On the flip side, a lot of VNs and similar, I will skip dialogue left and right, play with cheat mode, like I currently do in Summertime Saga, etc.

Probably the more a game tries to be a game, the more I treat it like a game. If there isn't much game to focus on, again, ADD brain will kick in and focus on what's essential. In that case the porn.

Personally I'm having hard time understanding how personally invested some people are with all the tags and happenings in these games. Like being really angry about changing tags or "possible" offensive happenings. The continuous flame wars of personally invested people who have no problems fucking their mother but are triggered about "their" girls getting it on with anyone but the MC. TBH there was a moment I was almost triggered about the silly big tits and hips in this one game, but then I uninstalled it and downloaded something else and forgot all about it.
Basically in the words of someone way wiser than me: "I'm just here for the (nasty) sex".

I don't know what you mean by taking it seriously. Normally I take them as games, download them, play a little, enjoy it and continue with your life. If we see it from the perspective of a developer, it is necessary to take it seriously, since many of us can afford to pay for good material. Depending on the seriousness and effort that the developer puts into their product, we may or may not buy their game or support it on payment platforms.

No, for a simple reason - as a rule, these games have too weak plot, which is not able to really captivate, immerse in the game world. The characters are also usually very poorly drawn, and it is very difficult to associate yourself with them.
So I laugh at the various battles around NTR - people are clearly losing the line between virtual opuses, which at best reach only the level of mediocre fanfic, and reality.
I'm more interested in real life.

Do you take porn games seriously? Do you take any video games seriously? Games are fictional entertainment, same as movies, books, art... I can get really invested in a well made piece of entertainment, and really enjoy it. But in the end it's still just fiction, so it's hard to take it that seriously.

i take the enjoyment and dissapointment i derive from my entertainment seriously. after all, its sole purpose to me is my gratification. when it delivers, yay. when it does not, booo and double booo. after all if i wanted to be let down i have rl shit to deal with it, i could just do that. but other than that, no i cant take porn serious. the only serious thing about any porn is the money it generates.

I suppose that would depend on the game. For me a lot of them are more about stories, with a secondary function as "Stress Relief". Though there are games in which the story is bad, but the H-Content is top notch in which case, well you can certainly guess. I prefer for the game I'm playing to have a deep depth to it, good character development and story/world building. I don't really want just a cookie cutter porn game, if I wanted that I'd just watch porn.

Also, can we say enough with the "college" Games. There's too many and they are all the same. lmfao

Most games like this put you (The Player), in the role of the MC. Looking at it from that perspective it makes sense.

Serious as it can be. If the game is to make fun of something, I will follow it and make fun, if it is to discuss something, I will read its "arguments". And if the game is to take the brains out and enjoy, that is what I will do!

So, to conclude, I will follow the objective of the developer when programming the game!
