discussion Do you take porn games seriously?

After getting to know the NSFW gaming community, I realized that a lot of people are really invested in these games, and while I can see the artistic and sometimes philosophical value in some, I see these games primarily as a way to "release stress", so I became interested in knowing how the "community" in general views these games

I usually don't take this games seriously, but there were a feel that actually made me care about the story, but it is very rare
Most of the times the story is just shit

I'm not completely sure what you mean by "seriously", but I treat them with almost the same level of respect as a non-porn game. If it's good, I'll praise it, and if it's bad, I'll condemn it. They're still games, after all.

Depends on the day but mostly yes I play it seriously but also no cause I like to see where all the choice lead or I got bored and just mess around to pass the time

Honestly don't expect much from smut story wise and I can count in one hand the number of porn games that actually hooked me with good gameplay and/or story

As a general rule, no. But if I come across an adult game that has a lot of effort put into the story (or that's the focus) and said story is on the serious side, i'm happy to take it how it's meant to be taken. I've found going in with a sense of acceptance of silliness (adult game makers are as big of weirdos as those who play them, so there's often a sense of humor or weirdness in the writing that takes away from full seriousness) means I'm never caught getting frustrated over a game being good in other aspects but really disappointing in the writing. plus, the premise of most of the games has some degree of unrealism which lends to seriousness being shelved at least somewhat at some points.

I like them for the relaxed feel to them (I mainly play VN's) but even regular games I mainly just play for fun. except for the likes of Dark souls and elden ring, then i'll lock in a bit more lmao.

I am constantly searching for games that are made like an actual normal game. This questions should be asked to game developers, do they actually take the games they are making as an actual game or just a way to show porn to people. I think many are starting to make games at least with the intention of making it into a proper game. No matter how normal a porn game can be it will never be enjoyed for the same reasons.

I think it depends. For games made purely for profit, I don't have any special attachment — it's basically just a transaction. But most of the games I've come across are made by people who aren't really experienced at making games, yet they still do it because they love it or want more people to enjoy it. I can feel their passion for what they love. Even if they're not skilled and the game doesn't turn out as expected, I still take it seriously most of the time. Maybe it's because profit-driven games are mainly focused on making money, so they chase stability but lack innovation. Meanwhile, the ones made for free out of passion aren't about profit — they tend to be bolder and more innovative in content.

I take them seriously, but they serve a very different purpose than non-porn video games. Comparing my "seriousness" when it comes to the two is almost impossible.

Of course, there are also lots of porn games that I don't take seriously and are just for "fun."

Most porn games I'd say no but I really took black souls seriously I really love that games story and the surrounding lore.
