I'll wait for a normal pirated repack to come out. Paying money for games? Don't make me laugh.

I've been burned enough that I usually give it a week or so at least, unless someone ends up throwing a copy at me so I can play with them, which has happened in the past. at that point it would be rude to say "I wanna wait to try it out" so I'll just install it then and prepare myself mentally to once again be carried.

Release date. All this extra waiting feels like waiting for the devs to get off their ass and fix things they should have a long time ago. I know that's funny coming from me, Todd Howard of all people, but still.

Depends on the game. If my friends will play on release, then on release. Otherwise, I don't mind waiting.

I always wait a while, though that's mostly because I'm frugal. Games on release can be pretty expensive, so I usually wait for a sale.

i wait, here where i live its really expensive, i need a discount

This days most released versions are hot garbage. Besides i have countless other games in library to look at. So i'll take my sweet time.

Depends on my interest in the game, if it's a sequel that I've been awaiting for almost a decade I won't be able to wait any longer

It kind of just depends on the game. Games important to me like Pokemon or Halo are necessary day one play, other games I can wait on or just watch someone else play and pick up the game in the future if I liked it enough.

I normally wait some time due to all rushed releases and false marketing we've seen these last couple of years. I used to make exceptions for certain studios but learned my lesson.

It depends a bit on the game and developers in question. But generally I prefer to wait a while to make sure that I'm actually interested in playing said game, and to the game won't just waste away in my library.

Nowadays it's better to wait till the patches and all DLC have been released.

As you end up paying less with a cheap sale, but sometimes my patience runs out and I'll buy it on release.

No less than a month. Tried pre-purchasing, etc and always got let down

For me It all depends on the amount of interest I have in the game.

Used to play games on release day before, now i just wait few weeks or months before playing.

Most of the games I take interest start as early access so I just put it on my wishlist and wait until its done but other than that I dont mind playing on release

Completely agree.

As long as day 1 patches continue to exist I will never play a triple A game on release. Indies maybe id play on release cause they usually have early access periods but I usually wait a while for those too. I guess if it's something I'm super hyped for I'd play on release otherwise nah

My unplayed backlog is enormous. I can wait. I also get the benefit of seeing reviews from unpaid sources.
