Yeah, I have a regular default I use for my MC's name (it's not my own, but it's one I wish I'd been named). I also have 2 or 3 others I like to use if the facial look of the MC fits them better.
I almost always install Universal RenPy Mod, to browse the inbuilt character names and check for clashes before proceeding with my chosen name.
I also occasionally have bit of fun renaming other male characters to have silly names (especially antagonists, or rivals).

It really depends, on games that I know will not take themselves seriously and joke a lot I try to get a fitting name, but it can be game ending if an NPC ends up with the same name.
Incest games sometimes I pick something like Daddy, because it is funny that everyone, even MC's Mom (or grandma) end up calling him that. The bad thing is that if the NPC ends up picking to refer to the MC as "daddy" I end up not remembering if they refer to his name, or nickname.
If I know that in game the MC will end up cucked or fucked, he becomes Bitch.
