Animations are great and help elevate poorer art. I think 3D art (Koikatsu etc) is a good way to get easy animations.

Animations are great, but pixel art holds a special place in my heart. I still remember some pixel rpg games that had some scenes that were happening by just moving around. Damn, I miss that. And I never found the game again.

Animations are nice especially with nice sfx on its background, it makes me think that the text in these games would not be too tedious
Don't get me wrong, great writing is still great. But having visual always beat having to read sound effect when I was supposed to read the story

I would much rather prefer high quality images over janky 3fps loops.
I've seen way to many devs try to squeeze in the "animations" tag by just adding extremely poorly done ones within their game

Animations are always nice to have. I don't ask for much, even a simple loop every now and then is enough for me.

Animations are always preferable but tricky to find good quality animations. Many are just bad.

These are minor nuances that do not affect the level of gameplay. With good gameplay and minimal storytelling skills, text games can surpass games with the most advanced graphics if the developer is unable to create a coherent plot and provide good gameplay.
In addition, the presence of text, rather than pictures, promotes the development of the reader's imagination, which is a very positive factor in our era of clip thinking.

I strongly agree with this sentiment. Visuals (when made well) make for good eye candy, but if the underlying story or game base isn't good, then visuals become superficial albeit eyecatching.

Animations are part of my filter search. Add lewd sounds and can fap to it easily.
Still's IMO are like sleeping with a hot chick that just lays there and doesnt make a sound.

I'd recommend sticking with stills and maybe one or two high quality animations for a peak plot scene. At least, untill there are better tools widely available for generating high quality animation.
