Are my pleasure receptors cooked, or is the adult games quality going from stale to full on nose dive?

Some time before the AI art games started to appear in numbers, I was seeing lazy Koikatsu games left and right. As of this year of 2026, I still see lazy Koikatsu games being created. The AI games I see appear to be lazy due to the same style of art they all use. The only one I've seen so far that appears different and not lazy is REC, which uses pixel art, yet is labeled as AI-CG. From what I've payed so far from an older demo, that game was AI art done right, unlike most I have seen so far.

Yes REC is a great game, I think this mention is there because AI has been used in some places, but as far as i know most of the pixel visuals have been handcrafted

The dev actually makes livestreams where he works on the game on his discord, which is a very nice move on many aspects

There is also too many inexperienced game devs who rushed in to make money without taking time to learn the tools and how to create a game. I wish they would get into emulation and go experience many retro games and see what made them great. ( - game roms via ) I find myself needing to go back to these old games again and learn from them.

The credit card thing hit hard the community of this kind of games, because it was not just incest it was all the perception of doing money by making porn games. and i dont know i remember playing porn flash games and they were fun, even now for me a game doesn't need to have the best graphics or story to be good, always loved the build ups and situations, manwha from korea is getting really good at it and they putting a lot of money on those artist.

Well yes, and I think it's a pattern we've seen already in many industries, including music, cinema, video games... some guys with skill and passion make stuff===> success===> then greed comes===> people with passion and skill are still there, but drown in lots of slop....

I think the industry will expand where the money is [...]

....which is why I'm not that confident about the industry kicking in

Sadly I can't add much because others have already said what I would, but to reinforce the sentiment; it does sound a lot like burn out rather than you being cooked.

Though I will say, AI in general increased the quantity of games being released because it lowered the bar for entry, so the average quality across the industry probably has declined.

That doesn't mean quality games aren't being made, it'll just be harder to find them through the increasing amounts of slop.

DO I REALLY NEED TO MAKE MY OWN GAME TO SHOW EVERYBODY HOW IT'S DONE???
Even if you're joking here, I genuinely think it would be worth trying. It might give more insight for some of the points your making which I would struggle to address given I have little or no experience in the industry.
