The more animated it is the higher quality it feels like for me but I think that a mix is best since stills are easier to produce and that will help to actually get the updates out.
Animations are nice but I feel like they take way too much time to create if you want some high quality ones that are actually worth the effort. Would rather a dev is able to push out updates more frequently if it means sacrificing some mid ass animations. Only a few ones where it is actually worth the wait
I'd say high quality stills with equally high quality writing would beat a mid quality animation, but the stills have to have that peak writing as well to help our brain do the rest of the imagination.
It doesn't make too big of a difference to me either way, but I can understand that animation can give a game a bit more of a polished feel that people prefer
Hard to say. I’d generally agree with practically everyone else here, a higher quality still is much better than a mediocre animation. Animation quality varies greatly between all sort of games.
As a player, I tend to prefer animations, but if the stills are high quality ones, I also like em. Animations make things way hotter if they're good, stills have it a bit more difficult, but can also be so good. Animations normally make the game more appealing, and games with high quality ones tend to be more popular, or at least I think that based on what I've seen and readed.
