By the way: is it strike season yet? Gonna go for that 30 hour work week and 3 months of paid "holiday" now? ;)
Sadly our government went full unchecked police brutality and indiscriminate repression through harsh and abusive justice sentences, so that nice tradition of ours is kinda disappearing. We can't blame people to not want risking being beaten up to death by riot police or ending up with a criminal record because they were just unlucky bystanders
How did you guess I am evil? Not as if I am vampire or anything hehe
Wait, Vampires are supposed to be evil ? What?
Well, I might be a bit biased here, since I sold my soul to Satan a while ago so idk
I was playing into the joke there...
Actually I change my signature for you.
I'm disappointed, couldn't you tell I also was being sarcastic? Maybe we went to deep in the meta-sarcasm.
That's no way to protect your ass! 💋
Given my issues with my digestive system , my ass is perfectly fine providing it's own protection
Wait is that a real person?? ( Oh maybe if its from a Latin American country) if so how does she keep from getting all sweaty between her butt cheeks?
Talc ?
Aftereffects?
Forbidden magic?

go for that 30 hour work week and 3 months of paid "holiday" now? ;)
You now, it's up to you to realise that your work culture in general is absolutely fucked up, and that the average US worker is morbidly overworked 🤷‍♂️
(and nah, for now we still stick to the 35h/week, but yeah, we got paid holidays, don't be salty about it :p )

Personally I think foie gras is overrated so if your on the fence and feel bad about it I would say you're not missing much and to get the duck à l'orange instead.
Never thought I'd like the stuff, but when I was going through recruiting out of college several of the firms liked to have the lunches at a place that did wild game in addition to the normal steaks, etc. In the same way TexMex places put out chips and salsa or Italian places put out bread and olive oil, this place put out foie. Tried it and decided I really enjoyed it. It became a favorite place for me to take clients and recruits after graduation - sadly, it closed down shortly after I transferred to another city, and wasn't there anymore when I came back. I don't do it often now, but will get it about once a year around my birthday.

And I'll always take duck a l'orange, or any crispy, savory duck. A favorite is a version done in Thai red curry - it's crispy before it's placed in the curry for serving. 😋

I used to like foie gras, but I just can't anymore... I wouldn't call myself a softie nor a animal cause militant, but the force-feeding of the ducks/geese is just open torture and I somehow ended disgusted by it.

I prefer king crab to lobster and lobster to snow/Bairdi crab. ;)
King Crab and Prime Rib all you can eat buffet. I should've stopped talking to you guys and gone to get my fatboy grubbin on.
That person probably had a gas stove, furnace or water heater - that shit can kill you if you don't catch it quick, turn it off at the meter, air the house and repair the leak.
I think it was either the water heater or just a pipe that had been leaking for months.
I'll look for it, it was a good story.
Except, having been in Canada, it's weirder than that, imo

When you ask "How far is it to City X". The answer is "Oh, about an hour away."
"How far to the grocery store?" "Not far. About 5 minutes that way."

In practical terms... Canadians measure distances... in minutes and hours...
Any other countries do that? (honestly asking)
That's pretty common in the midwest, too.
"When you see the big bar, take a right on that road, drive about 10 minutes. When you see the tractors on the hill, take another right. Then drive until you get to the interstate. You'll be there in 20 minutes."
Tourists love that shit. :D
Mine have all been unintentional. At the pace this thread generally moves, usually I can comment to someone, then after I've read down a few posts and find something else of interest, there has almost always been at least one post between and usually several. I guess I could do the quote thing more often, but (sorry backreaders) 20-30 quote posts are hard to read. I understand why they do that, and I'd probably do the same thing if I were a backreader, but I sometimes just glaze over.

I can't find the skit... but there's a whole: Canadians are actually half way between metric and imperial (probably old by now).

I only remember one thing from it:
"We measure our height in feet, but our travel in kilometers."

It went on that way for a bit.
That seems a smarter way to do it, if we're being honest.
That way, you know both ways.

Anyone ready for the new Beetlejuice movie? My wife and I just rewatched the first one. Crazy that Michael Keaton is playing as beetle juice again nearly 40 years later. #72yearsold
I loved the first one so much.. i don't have much faith that the new one will be anywhere nearly as good.

Tell you what.. you get that sexy little twin of yours to dance for me.. and I'll reconsider my actions.

Somehow I missed this post. Didn't see the reply of my best friend, sorry. 😭
Ever since moving out I've been using a lot the Air Fryer. I also have some rice cooker and a pressure cooker.
No worries I'm sure I have missed many posts in here, such is life. You can cook so much stuff in an air fryer it's so much more useful than I thought it would be when I got it. I have an instapot its both a rice and pressure cooker in one, I've had it awhile now but when I first got it and used it for the potluck at work of course my boss went out the next day and bought one that was also had an airfryer lid attachment  haha

I'd get both. Hahaha
I always try food, even if I'm sure if I wont like it.
One time I saw a burger that had green apple and wasabi. I hate wasabi, but since it was so different I got one.
I hated it... :ROFLMAO:
Green apple on a burger, interesting. and paired with wasabi that does indeed sound terrible and yes I would also get it knowing I would probably hate it haha

The crispy skin on chicken is one of its best parts, and the pienapple sold me on this.
Sometime ago I tried thai food for the first time and liked it a lot. Now I want it!

Yeah, that's why I'm conflicted. Even if I like it, I don't think I'd buy it, but I still want to try at least once.

Oh, you'll probably like it, especially if you never tried it before ! It's quite good when it's well made, and that's fine.
I was just talking about a personal ethical issue ^^ I'm not the type of guy who'll go crusading and blame other people for their choices (especially since I'm far from being a exemple regarding my own bad choices and decisions myself, it'd be totally inappropriate)

I'm guessing the jokes won't be as good because too much that wasn't taboo then is taboo now, so it will be less "natural". The good thing about being able to use Michael again is that it takes a lot less time with make up than it did then. ;)

Pretty much. I've had a couple of versions, but my favorite was in a place I now live nearly 700 miles from (over 800 if I want to drive ) and looked very much like that. I may not be a fan of pineapple on pizza (the acid and the cheese don't work together for me), but it's great in a curry dish. Along with the little tomatoes, the sweet offsets some of the heat a little (I usually did true "Thai hot" for Thai food), and the skin was like a little cracker that soaked in some of the curry, but still remained more crispy than soggy. Huge fan of Thai, Vietnamese, Sichuan and many other Eastern Asian cuisines, but if I was limited to only one for the rest of my days, it would be Thai.

If you really want to hurt yourself with some spicy Thai, get the "lime beef salad" (yum nua) - no coconut milk or sauce to staunch the heat, just pure, fresh, bright flavors. My favorite place did a version without the cucumber you find in many versions of the dish, which was great for me because raw cucumber and I do not get along with each other.
