mity is great he makes four element trainer posts regularly lets us know whats up i just love his stuff go give em a doller if ya got it

Because I'm poor, I would happily support all my favorite developers if I had enough money but sadly I don't.

I support a lot of creators, just as I buy a lot of games, but been supporting akabur for YEARS now because he is a nice guy that is active to his fans.
Most people are cashgrab that post a "i'm alive" post every 3 months only....

I'm curious to know why some people do not financially support devs they really like so these devs can work full time on their VNs.

Is it because you can't or because you know you'll have the update for free later (stinginess)?

Personally I've supported devs sporadically but I can't anymore because of my nightmarish financial situation (bad choices back in 2020, my bank won't let go until I'm out of it in 10 years from now ?)
I am from a poorer country and i dont have the expendable income. So i try to support devs/sites in ways i can without money, ex. watching ads, turning off ad-block, that kinda things.

I would love to support quite a few devs iv come across but sadly I just don't have the income to do so

You can only support so many. I am still actively supporting maybe a dozen creators.

At some point I get tired of all these continuous updates as well. It's nice to be really involved with a game you love, but all these dripfed slowfed updates become too much at some point.

Wasted ~100$ waiting for an update for my favourite game Polarity by SirDamned, never came, also supported Bluecat's Ecchi Sensei and that tale didn't end well

Now i usually wait for steam release for the games i really like.

I've got a running sub to NaughtyRoad, mostly because of the extra image incentive you get at higher tier, but also because I actually enjoy the rather well written story. The visuals might not be everyones piece of pie, but it still feels better than copy-paste model 1-9.

Not that some creators haven't been able to make quite good stories with the models, but it kinda gets jarring to see the same ones with a different persona if you binge a lot of games

would like to support the dev but i have other priorities maybe sometime

Subscriptions suck and almost all the devs use patreon to get support.

I don't make enough to support them fully but I usually subscribe for a dollar or 2 whatever is the lowest tier is and then I go to a more expensive tier when an update is released, this works because most devs released a proper update every 2 to 4 months and if its longer I probably drop them til I hear it's actually moving along.

I supported less and less over the years. The "abandoned" tag / months / years without any info from devs got too much

If it were financially possible for me, I would permanently support every dev whose game I like, but that would add up to a few hundred euros a month. i occasionally support for 1-2 months, e.g. when an update for a game has just been released.

When a developer puts the generation of profit above their consumers, that is what ruins it for me. There are many great examples of this, and I am sure I don't even need to name them for people to go "oh like that one dev". Sadly, consumerism and pursuit of profit over all else, are likely to blame. It is just as bad to embolden the behavior of these devs as it is for the devs to reap money from those who are just excited to play the next update. Bottom line, as game/hentai/porn enthusiasts, we should vote with our wallets, and when something doesn't smell right... we don't pay.

Edit: man I need to get off my soapbox

Although I have found ways to support some devs, the fact of my life is that my credit card transactions are visible to someone I do not want to know I support devs for adult games. Simple as that. And there is barely a work-around I have found. I used to use store bought cards that do not require connections with my credit card account. Just good old fashioned prepaid card that used to be accepted. I get the issue of someone underage getting them and using them, and I have not come up with a great solution myself, but there must be something out there. Anyways, that is the reason that blocks me most often. Any solutions, let me know, all ears.

I can't support devs financially, which prevents me from supporting them. I would like to though, as some devs really deserve the support.

I have. Patreon, Stripe, and Itch have all reported financial transactions to governments with all identifying information to governments about supporting banned content.
To support you need to be behind proxies, using burner credit cards or crypto that you've not gotten through a trading platform, and using non phone number email services or disposable emails.
The barrier to entry is insane if you want privacy.

If they have a low dollar tier I will gladly support if they have a quality game. I think I am signed on to 6 patreon/subscribestar accounts currently. I am supporting the dev of Sinful City Fight for Love on the highest tier because he is amazing, but the others I throw them a couple bucks. If a lot of people throw them a few dollars, it turns into a lot of dollars.

Regarding trustworthy devs who won't randomly abandon their game and have frequent updated, or at least track update progress, money is the only reason
If I had the means to, I'd probably support the ones whose games I actively play for story reasons (genuinely, some games have a plot that intrigues me enough, and where no scenes are necessary)

I despise Patreon, but i do try to support on Itch and Steam
(even if i rather play the non steam version due to all the restrictions imposed).
