I did a little bit of supporting on itch, and If I am really engaged in some game I dont have problem to show some financial appreciation, but i despise monthly subscription that is almost everywhere. I have kinda fear from it and i don't like the idea of giving my card info just like that.

the country I live in shun most of the topics here, by not linking my details (bank, address etc,) is protecting any and all party's involved. if there was a way to compensate for the entertainment without bringing any party into the light I would do so.

I did for a long time. At any given time, I was supporting 5 - 10 games. I would sub until about 50 to 60 dollars total and swap games. After a while devs would ghost or my taste changed. I stopped most after my guy down under was denied freedom because of illustrations.

If I really like a game, and after it is actually done it shows up on Steam, I will probably get it. I don't like putting money toward things that may never get finished though.

Because the means of supporting them are traceable, and if I use my credit card, there's a record.

It's like WIPs in books, I only support them once they deliver a finished product.

I tried supporting one game I thought was very promising but then the dev made a complete overhaul to the combat system, gutted some extremely hot art of the game, dissed members when they said they didn't like the direction the game was going and then put the game on (probably indefinite) hold.

Learnt my lesson then. So yeah, no matter how promising a game might be, I would rather just buy the game after it's completed.

cus it's a gamble. 99% of devs take too long to put out updates worth paying for. you're essentially burning money

If I want a game, I'd buy it, not pay someone's montly costs.
I am a customer not their employer.

Lack of money I support some devs but I Need to be really picky due to my life.

anonymity, unfortunately, no good way to pay and stay anonymous

For what ever reason every time I try to invest the project would die ether within weeks to month curse or bad timing, who knows.

Im poor and some of them the payment need to be in dolar/euro and the currency in my country its like 8 euros = 1 my contry currency

I absolutely support devs. I do have to stay within some sort of budget. I believe my current monthly spend is at 70

Because my bank's fraud detection department likes to lock my account down for any "suspicious" activity and I don't need them looking any money I'm spending on a dev's Patreon or SS

I used to in the past. But, many either disappeared, gave up on the game I was interested in, or were from "Down Under" during recent events. Plus, monetary constraints halted my ability to support.

I have supported some before. Currently i dont since i dont like the way they where using their time (Updating old shit in the game)

why spend money when piracy is free lol
it's not like my petty amount would mean anything, not compared to the legions of people with tastes less picky than mine.
