Why don't you financially support devs you really like?

I do. For the most part, but I like taking a look at the game *before* I support, and not everyone offers good demos.

Lack of flexibility with my funds. If I could afford to, I'd be supporting all the ones I like again.

Guess I gotta knock over a bank. Anybody wanna crew up with me? 🤪

i already supported a lot of devs some more, some less depending on their effort to keep the game running and dont involve the patreons too much in the story process (fan service stuff) atm i dont have that much money left so guess i will stick with just with 1-2 games for now

The few games I've enjoyed I've supported. But the vast majority of the games feel they are worked on for one update and then disappear. I use most of the downloads as a demo of sorts and if the game is decent (visual, story, structure) then I'll find the creator and sub/donate. But the sheer amount of games available just doesn't make it feasible to buy every game I want to have a look at.

I agree with this. I try to support those that I feel are heading in a good direction or have consistent updates and take feedback. It's tough to support a developer when you don't know where they're at in development or if they'll just stop updating the game for months at a time. I know they all have their own lives and that takes precedence, but hard to ask players to support without having that solid foundation first.

I support them when I can. Unfortunately, that's not often; due to my tenuous financial situation.

So, the consensus seems to be "I'm poor (not being mean)" and "I support "good" games with active development"

Like pretty much everyone in this forum, I don't support a lot of devs simply because of my finances.

I only subscribe to a creator when a game is so good, that a don't want to wait for the public release. And then I usually unsubscribe after downloading it.

This is just my opinion, and its just how i see things and how they were done ages ago when these games first start popping up.
But i don't subscribe to them at all, not until you have completed a game and then i would pay a certain amount.
I fall into the mind set of not paying Triple AAA title games to people that make porn games, just not how i see things and i cant seem to justify paying a subscription for games that are incomplete and if they ever make it to being complete.

For me personally, it is all about privacy. For various reasons I can absolutely not be open with my interest in adult VN, especially if they have hebe or loli-ish content. Where I live there is not any easy accessible anonymous payment options. In fact, some sort of crypto-coin would be the only option, and I am not getting into that for many reasons.
If there were an easy and secure way to pay anonymously, I could pay probably a total of 15-20 EUR per month, not much but something.
I actually think this is a rather common reason for people....

I've subscribed to developers in the past. Right now I'm spending my "creator" budget on harem fantasy authors catering to my kinks. I can't afford to support everyone I like, so I'm rotating.

Well if I have the extra bucks I would def support a few that I like; but as it stands I am broke af. Also like some have pointed out, quite a lot of devs dont actually finish their games.

I finance only a few creators because if I try to finance all the games creator I like I would go broke

This more or less sums it up.

I support developers financially when I can and when the seriousness of their work is proven !

I do. I support about 4 games right now from $5-10 per month. I do have some very strict criteria for supporting them though:
1 - If i can buy it on steam no reason to pay monthly on Patreon
2 - It has to be a game I really really really REALLY like and fits my interests.
3 - Most importantly it has to have been out for at least 1 year and had monthly updates for that entire year.
4 - When I say updates I mean at least 4-5 scenes per update or lots of plot.
5 - Dev communicates progress regularly and is friendly to his community on different channels.
6 - No greed, if I see a $5 tier that gets the update 3-4 weeks after the $150 tier go f yourself.
7 - Ofc if anything happens and I need the money elsewhere these subscriptions are the first to go.
8 - Any break in communication or smell of lazyness/abandonment I instantly bail.

In this day and age, lot of media turns to garbage. Beloved franchises get taken and raped by the corporations that own them. To me, supporting indie devs, be it NSFW or SFW is very important. Of course as long as they don't get lazy and actually deliver things they're supposed to.
When a creator is gone, they're gone. That project dies with them. In many cases, that's a shame that could be prevented by giving them 5 bucks a month, couple of nice word etc to motivate them on further developing something that may become their job.
Support things you can. Voice things you like. Criticize in civil ways things you dislike.

I tried backing Trials in Tainted Space when Fenoxo started the offbeatr campaign. My bank bugged out about me trying to pay a crowdfunding site and I never actually managed to fund it. It's not really worth the hassle or the money most of the time. I'd be open to buying a completed game from itch if I like it, but so few games are completed that I don't actually expect that to happen anytime soon.

Lack of flexibility with my funds. If I could afford to, I'd be supporting all the ones I like again.

Average bank robbers only get about $40k if they don't get grabbed by the cops. I'm not in for anything shy of an Ocean's 11 casino heist.
