Storytelling in VN is importent for me. Also good Sex and Animations. I think it goes Hand in Hand. If the story is good, the Sex-Scenes work better. And for some Creators, Storytelling seems to be harder than the Sex-Scenes. LASTO, who is working on Siblings Delights. I have downloaded maybe 5 or 6 Versions, updates, restarts and I hope he gets everything together soon.

A good game absolutely must have balance between the two.
A game without a story can't be called VN, and a game without mindless sex is one that takes itself too seriously to be fun.

I never got off to any porn games, i have played a handful because of my husband "putting me on". The stories are the most interesting to me i normally skip the sex scenes.

Depends I feel some games have really good stories that you just wanna finish and enjoy and others are not as interesting so I'd be more into the carnal aspects.

the obvious answer is always "depends" i feel, but if a dev wants to grow a community they should probably focus on story more, especially if talking about VNs, the "came for porn stayed for the story" is a really common experience from what i've seen.
I myself prefer a good story, if i really just want mindless sex i might just go read doujins or browse the boorus, but of course there are always exceptions.

Story definitely matters. Almost every game has some sort of backstory to setup where it takes place and all. Games that are purely sex sims are alright but they get boring pretty quick tbh. Maybe I'd have felt differently a few years ago though, idk.

The story is what matters, even if you have just one render of sex if the context and story is build around that moment ends in a good scene.
