If i wanted just random sex animations i would watch random sex animations instead of playing the game Story, context, buildup, mechanics it all matters.

I think the point should be, the story doesnt need to be good, the context and build up are enough to make a hot scene, for example in Incest that in the game is a relative is enough context for be hot enough if you like incest, same with NTR if you like cheating just the act of cheating is enough.

thats why even if you skip 80-90% of a VN if you like the concept of Incest or NTR or any fetish you like is enough build for you.

Precisely! Though I would say story is usually needed for me to play the game, though sometimes if it has good enough mechanics it can ride alone on that. With neither though, just go watch something at that point, how is it even a game then?

Also, is it just me, or does the way the question is worded kind of bias towards story being the answer? Maybe it could have been stated as "story or jumping straight to sex" as a more neutral alternative.

Depends on the goal of the game. Often times I kinda just wanna get off, so if there's too much story it'll often get in the way. Then again, there are other times where I want to get properly invested in a game or world, and at that point the lewd stuff comes second. Both approaches have their merit.

I would add one more element for a successful game. Sex scenes, good story, and game mechanics. Without any of those it just ends up being a wank fest for me

Generally story is more important, as it is what makes it a game and not just a series of unrelated images, however sometime you do just want a game with the barest hint of a story that gets right into the action, whether that action is sex or just gameplay for non porn games. Sometimes you want to immerse yourself and sometimes you only have 20 minutes and you just need things to get started fast.
