One thing I don't understand is how some games go YEARS in, with hours worth of play time, with no sex and not only have supporters, but lots of them (AWAM, JOHN, Summer Story...) Are there people that LIKE boring?

Models primarily. For most games anything besides Ren-Py will turn people off completely. In the long term the game needs a stable amount of updated content for each character, which is why these games with 10 different LIs always fizzle out.

ok seeing as no one bring this up, skin moves when people have sex, most game look like sex toys made of rubber in both looks and how they move. like with a BJ if the lips move some with the dick or the lips of the vag pulling out a bit as the man pulls out . If you can make it look real its adds a lot. ext...

and most games make being wet from water or body fluid look like crap.

Unfortunately, only one item can be selected. I voted for story, however, the character development of the characters is equally important. Two-dimensional haroys are just not interesting to watch. Graphics. Important, but to a lesser extent (although I can't overcome my repulsion for Japanese graphics, which immediately cuts off a lot of projects for me personally). Sexual content is important, as long as there's a balance between it and narrative development. Fuckfest is just boring and uninteresting.

I'm the kind of person who loves this kind of story. As an example - Summer's Gone, The Entrepreneur are in my personal Top 5. And The Entrepreneur is at the top of the list for me. The plot is more important to me than the sex.
By the way, can you decipher the abbreviation JOHN? Maybe I missed something interesting.

Yeah, sorry about that. I was originally going to do multiple choices, but I decided it would be better to have only one since I was more looking for what people thought the most important one was.

Jessica O'Neil's Hard News.

I think the cuteness and look of the characters. The Title also is important as it hooks you in.

good story with good interactions with characters. various things to do

100% The story and general plot evolution. However you need to deliver on sex scenes at the right moments and always keep the player guessing in how far things could go whatever your personal preferences.

I generally prefer it when the scenarios and characters are believable - which is one aspect of a well written story. That does not mean they have to be realistic - I play games to enjoy scenarios that can't or shouldn't be experienced in real life.

I FUCKING HATE slow burn. Let alone glacial burn or no burn in ones like AWAM.

Some people like slow burn, but it should be called out in the tags or description that it is slow burn.

What I've found is that some authors, who I'm still thankful for as authors, don't really respect their players' time. They say a game is too hot to handle and then hours later you are wondering what happened, or they describe it with key tags and then four iterations/updates in, none of those have occurred yet.

Devs should have respect for their players' time. Honestly describe what is contained, what is not, and reasonably try to convey the pacing.

A good story can be had either way. One of my favorites right now is Desert Stalker. I SO wish I hadn't discovered it until it was finished, waiting for updates is brutal. That said, I actually really kind of enjoy the story... AND it paces the fun parts in a way that works for me. AWAM on the other hand was time I will never get back... and it's too bad, because the game hints at topics I do enjoy. It just... has no respect for my time.

characters > story > graphics. good characters alone can make a compelling story, a compelling story gets you to continue playing after blowing your load, it's still a porn game after all so the graphics at least have to meet a minimum standard.

what are we considering the "most popular adult games"? Examples? Maybe some of the most popular games rn are strong in a particular aspect
Regardless, I belive is a good story, plus an acceptable art/style. Individual characters may be a strong point in some games, and in some games the popularity is certainly carried by a particular character... so maybe that could be a strong 2nd place in relevance

characters --> dialogue --> story

give me an interesting characters with decent writing and idc what your story is about 😅

There's a popular saying in my country, "Everyone wanks the way he wants to." And as one politician of the last century said: "Let a hundred flowers bloom, let a hundred schools compete". :)

Other the Graphic and story, I feel like it needs the feeling of choice like it actually mater rather then something you can skip through.

Renders and characters/dialogue. It can be the most cliché thing ever, but if the visuals are nice and and the lines make me horny or laugh, I'll like it very much.
