While they are still relevant. I think it's none of the choices in the poll that makes a game stands out from the other.

Same as the gaming industry.

To me what makes a game stands out is when the dev respect his audience. And build an experience that he/she enjoys and that respects us players.
And not doing it only to cash in some easy money by making what is considered the most popular at the moment.

So yeah. Games don't need to have the best graphics, story, gameplay to be popular. If the game respect us and is fun to play. Over time, it'll get more and more people following the game and supporting it.
 
There's a popular saying in my country, "Everyone wanks the way he wants to." And as one politician of the last century said: "Let a hundred flowers bloom, let a hundred schools compete". :)

Based off initial first impressions its usually graphics but what keeps people coming back update after update are characters and story. Cool gameplay loop helps but most of the games I've played are visual novels.

I'd say there are many aspects that are important. But being poorly written with unappealing characters is a no from me everytime
 
I think it's a set of things. It's not just the graphics or the story, I don't think it's just the mechanics either. I definitely think there has to be a balance between graphics, story and mechanics where one can be better than the other but without standing out. For example, a game with good graphics in Unreal Engine, an open but empty world, with poorly polished or non-existent mechanics and a precarious story is not going to go anywhere. The same with a game with a spectacular story but in pixel art. They don't hit at the same level. In the game "the twist" you have a story that is not very good but well written, with puzzles and consistent mechanics, with passable graphics and it is one of the best games for adults that you can find, with good animations and physics. The same thing happens with "Last Hope", you have a simple and even comical story in some aspects accompanied by very well done gameplay, good graphics and mechanics that stand out. On the other hand we have "True Bond" with a perfectly done story, written in a good way and accompanied by very good graphics, with zero mechanics. In conclusion, there has to be balance.

You are probably right to do so, but some of the best games might have gameplay, at least some puzzle elements or something.

No, minigames and puzzles in adult games suck the festering cum out of a dead skunk's rotting dick.
 
In descending order:
- Level of depravity/rarity of tags/rarity of the combination of tags
- Characters
- Story
- Graphics.
 
Character design is by far the most important, makes you tolerate bad gameplay, bad story, etc, which is the case with most porn games. I would say that it's a subsection of graphics, but maybe the correct term would be art, as graphics wouldn't usually describe hand-drawn characters

A well written story can hold on it's own but I wouldn't download a porn game if I didn't like the character design

after that I would say tags and amount of likes raises or decreases my interest, tags as it's a filter for what I like and dislike, and likes usually means engagement, which usually means it's good in some way beyond the character models, if it's an older game and it has few likes it probably sucks or it has bad dev cycle. If I really like the pictures I may ignore all that though.

I think Story is important. but when I say that Im going for more speed of the game. I like the slow development! Characters are def a close 1st place. if they look off or are not my type I wont touch it.

I think each one completes the other. If you have good characters with good dialogues, hardly the story will be different

But to add to the discussion, I'd say the initial hook is the art style/graphics -> characters

And then the staying power lies in the characters -> Story

for me its a good story, not just a fuckfest where everyone falls at mc dick after 2 minutes
 
I would like to say story, but some highly regarded games I have played have had a shit story. I would also like to say flow but some also have shitty broken english. Probably just takes everything to at least be decent.
