It should start locked and open naturally as game progresses, and then there should be a menu to unlock rest while indicating not shown in game and an additional option to show hint at gallery images.

for me i prefer it to be unlocked for the people who just want to see the scenes and if the people who care for the game the play it normally

I prefer to unlock all scenes when having defeated the game.
If it's a really good game I like I don't mind hunting down the specific scenes too (if it requires different requirements etc.)

I usually like the find scenes on my own and just take a normal pace unless its a very boring story and then I will just skip and unlock the scenes. Once I go through the main story I usually just unlock the rest of the scenes if I can unless I really enjoyed it and will try to find the other scenes.

Locked gallery helps you to know if there are missing scenes due to different path, in renpy games you can unlock them by editing the gallery code and often people post the patch.
Anyway I don't replay scenes from gallery because I delete the game when it ends so its not an issue to me but I can understand that it helps if you wanna see scenes and not the story

Why developers even put a unlock gallery? They don't want people to acutally play their games? Stupid

I prefer to have a locked gallery to see if i missed anything but a cheat or button to unlock it is something that has come in handy before (to see how much content the characters i like have and to decide if i want to keep playing or not)

i prefer i can unlock them at the beggining, it's sad for the developers 'cuz they put efford making that game, so i only use it if i get bored or i cant unlock a scene

I like a blurred gallery with a hint on how to unlock each scene. Speaking of which, maybe someone can help me. In SSP I can't figure out how to get to the home of MC's assistant at work to spend time with her and the daughter. The hint says "go back to the office." I choose that whenever there's an option but can't progress to the damn locked scene. And I really want to!

I prefer to earn the scenes, but still have the option to unlock everything. Sometimes a game is relatively and subjectively bad, but could have some good scenes. If a bad (for me) game doesn't allow me to unlock scenes, I end up either trying to decrypt the CG and look at that, or just give up.

yeah essentially the same opinion as the last 4. prefer to earn but sometimes the game just sucks to play but it looks great and i wanna do some browsing of what im gonna miss out on.

I like to play through the game once at least and earn as much as possible, but some games i don't feel like playing through more than once or twice, then i use the unlocker for the rest

I think they should just give a gallery at the beginning. Some people like just looking at stuff, others like the story.

I agree with the general sentiment, you gotta earn it. Unless the game is straight ass in one aspect, then maybe find a save.

i say if you want to unlocked all scene, make it a code or a button to have it all unlocked. and having preview of how many scene are there would be great

Much prefer to earn them, gives reason to play the game as well as go down different paths, try new choices and just generally adds to the replay factor in a game.

There is a Goldilocks zone for this one. Images are visible for you if you have the scene, blurred with explanation how you reach there if you have not the scene. The most one I hated is, just numbers with black with no explanation or no meaningful ways to see what you missed then you realize it's twin image of a scene you already saw with slight variation.

Agreed, I enjoy having to unlock everything in the gallery. But if the gallery has some sneak peeks on the number of scenes and blurred previews for what you can expect when you successfully unlock the scene that's better than just a empty gallery frame.

I think if a game is not KN, then they should have JASON like saving system and this type of gallery. Even some of the greatest games can lack of these. Btw, I really really really hate that I need to click on something in a specific scene to unlock a gallery. That's fucking frustrating. I don't understand why any dev would do that.
