I get some people don't like certain things in fiction (violence, for instance), so everybody is free to choose what they want to watch, listen to or play, but to utterly reject everything that has NTR just because it has NTR is a little much.

So when people reject violence in fiction you understand that, but when it's NTR you don't?

I would understand that some people are sensitive to violence and will refuse to watch the The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
But if somebody refuses to watch The Great Escape because there are some punches thrown, they need to take a chill pill.
If you don't like NTR, it's fine, don't play specific NTR titles. But to not play a game because at some point it has NTR seems excessive.

The problem was never NTR games to begin with...

The problem is devs suddenly putting NTR in their games without warning... or devs saying they'll never do it, then 5 updates later BÄM... suddenly NTR.
Nobody that hates NTR would play an NTR game.
The hate comes from devs trying to deceive their audience.

What you are describing in the world of people going off with other peoples partners, sharing and swinging is actually what is wrong with the world today.
The overall rise in promiscuity in general before and during relationships/marriage is having lasting and negative results in society.

If we, as a society, would truly understand and respect what "To each their own" means, things would go a lot better.
There is nothing inherently wrong about being promiscuous, although to me, there is something wrong about breaking an exclusivity commitment (breaking trust).
We must understand and accept that some people want to have a monogamous relationship, while others do not, the same way that some people want kids and some do not.

From the Dev perspective, you gotta realize that so many people have their own definition of NTR and how limiting that can be. (I have a whole rant about it a page back) I'll never straight-up cuck my MC, but when I cross someone's personal line on NTR they throw a shit fit. These girls might be your waifu, but they're the dev's characters, and we're trying to tell a story.

And you're complaining about a game adding NTR 5 updates later? Do you know how much time and creativity went into those five updates? You're writing off months of someone's work all because of one scene. Again, do you know how constraining that is as a creator?

Respect the author's idea and liking the idea are two diferent things, is the authors right to write whatever they think fits the story they want to tell, but is so as well the audience right to decide if the agree with that or not.

That also avoids the statement regarding authors that specifically tell they will not include it only to include it later anyways. The exit to that I can think of is as Deaufosse metion, and is when there are diference in concept between the author and the audience but that only leaves the need off clear tagging to avoid that kind of discussions.
