i used to buy games when they came out but then u can be fucked by the dev with incomplete games, bugs, slow updates etc.
it can be a real pain so i wait a while before i commit.

As in mainstream games? Long, long while. Only times I play sth new someone gifted it to me

I can't remember a single game I played on release day. Playing later only has advantages, the game is (hopefully) patched and there are community fixes available. Currently my PC couldn't handle any big new games anyway so there is also that.

I prefer to wait, because of bug fixes.

These days I definitely wait a few months to a year. A lot of games get rushed for quick bucks. I can make exception for some indie devs that actually pour souls and minds into a lot of their games.

Depends on the game, if it's what I really wanted to play? then yes. I'd definitely drop what I'm currently doing and play that game.

If it's not that much of an expected release? Then, no.

I prefer to play them when I can download them. So many games and updates, there is always another game that got an update...

Wait a bit, for official patches and mod fixes. My computer can’t even run modern games anyway 😢. That’s also why porn ends up being so tempting, it’s free.

I mean, a normal game, if we get the monetary issue out of the way, do you prefer to play it as soon as possible or wait a reasonable amount of time?

The thing is that for me it is not worth playing a game as soon as it is released on the market, ignoring the question of price, the developers take time to add content and fix things, look at cyberpunk as an example, 3 years until the dlc is released and the game is completed as such, an extreme case I know, but I have realized that if I give the games a year or so (I admit sometimes more) as a rule it is much better for me when it comes to play them, there are DLCs, the bugs and technical problems are gone, more free content, etc... the only games that I see worth having as soon as possible are those intended for multiplayer.

With all this I do not want to belittle those who buy them on day 1, they are the ones who basically maintain the video game companies, what I can criticize is the developers who, instead of launching games that lack some polish, launch unfinished games .
I usually like to try the game out on release, and if I see potential I let it cook.

I wait. Mainly for bug fixes and the fact that better versions come out later with more content.

If its a paid game? Wait like a year. I never go back to games, so when I play it i want it to be after all the rubbish has been sorted out

As game get more and more broken on release ive found myself waiting for them to get fixed and go on sale. For example, I just beat Cyberpunk2077 a few weeks ago and had a great time for whatever it was on sale for on steam. Only had one crash and it wasn't bad enough to be an issue.

Games seem to need at least a month at this point to become playable in order to account for bug fixes and optimization issues. Though fewer companies don't care about optimization anymore.

i prefer to always play a game the same day or very soon after release, cause i try to avoid spoilers for games and dont get the same enjoyment out of something if I know how it's gonna end i would prefer to deal with bugs than know even a tiny bit of the story outcomes before I play

The downside of many of the major games leaks now is that the plot turns out to be as predictable and boring as many of the more cynical gamers have guessed. So it ruins the plot regardless of how things are handled. The triple AAA games seem to be the ones most afflicted with the trend.

I'm not patient, but I'm always trying to wait for fixed bugs after release.

i used to preorder games but so many recently have been disappointing *cough* *cough* payday 3, killing floor 3

أناprefer to wait or play it craced
