there are games with years of developement that don't feel worth to play at all, not because of the quality, but because of the lack of content
so yeah, waiting is usually the answer, unless you see the dev engage a lot and ask for feedback, in which case you play to help them

I miss the days of midnight releases for games, then racing home to.

I prefer the story is finished because, if i have to wait to long i forgot the beginning

With every game, phone, tv, it's worth waiting a little.
1 . It Will be much cheaper later
2. The first buyers are the testers.

I prefer to wait, someone else will eat the bugs of day one.

New games released at usually riddled with bugs, better to wait a little, let it be refined and polished, and also you'll know if the dev is serious about the project and not just expecting money to start flooding in.

On release if I can afford it. Its a different feeling playing a game when its at its hype, case in point -> E33 (Too bad I got too many other games to play).

Though, sometimes its better if the publisher has a track record for their games being a buggy mess (Monster Hunter)

I like to give the game a bit to play out, maybe read some reviews for it, see what the popular opinion of it is, let a hotfix, or 2 come out. Maybe even wait for the first update, to fix some things.

Wait for reviews and if its okay I'll wait for a sale. If its something I'm excited for and trust the developer day one.

I don't follow normal games. If I'm looking for something to play, I usually find games that have been out for a long time. If I'm interested in a game that hasn't been out yet, I wait about a month until there are updates or reviews that say the game is bug-free.

WWait a while but it matters how much content their is in the game and how good it is
I mean, a normal game, if we get the monetary issue out of the way, do you prefer to play it as soon as possible or wait a reasonable amount of time?

The thing is that for me it is not worth playing a game as soon as it is released on the market, ignoring the question of price, the developers take time to add content and fix things, look at cyberpunk as an example, 3 years until the dlc is released and the game is completed as such, an extreme case I know, but I have realized that if I give the games a year or so (I admit sometimes more) as a rule it is much better for me when it comes to play them, there are DLCs, the bugs and technical problems are gone, more free content, etc... the only games that I see worth having as soon as possible are those intended for multiplayer.

With all this I do not want to belittle those who buy them on day 1, they are the ones who basically maintain the video game companies, what I can criticize is the developers who, instead of launching games that lack some polish, launch unfinished games .

With how buggy games come out nowadays no reason to buy them when they first come out

Always waiting, you will not lose any at all.
Some games found new bugs at releasy day and you gonna wait again for it to be fixed

Usually I play only when the game is finished. I don't see a reason to play an unfinished game.
Like, would you watch only half a movie?
But sometimes I make exceptions when what I see of the game excites me enough, like Villnammelet.

Most definitely waiting until a sale because I'm too damn cheap.

I usually prefer to wait at least for two updates, but sometimes I like to try something new or if it has potential to be a good game for me

I always take some time before taking a game, I'm never in a hurry to be the first one to get them, and many i only got to them past their prime.
Reason 1 is same as i don't like buying pre-released games, because i want to have a few opinions of the game to know if it's worth it
Second being the state of nowadays games, when they release, they mostly still have a few bugs or problems to be fix, so better wait pro patches or updates.
Then there is the money issue, prices can be high during the exciting release dates, and later on i could even get them on discount

So yeah, i prefer the wait and see option

depends on the game if im super into it most likely day one if im on the fence then maybe wait
