Do you prefer to play games on release day or wait a while?

My favorite games yes, the time fillers I some times wait a couple updates

It depends. Not a big fan of preorders, and I try to stay on top of reviews on launch day if I'm very interested in the game, so I don't waste my money.

Obviously with how releases are these days the best option is to pirate games, play them and if you finish them (or spend enough time playing them and enjoyed the time that you did) you buy it after.

I mean, a normal game, if we get the monetary issue out of the way, do you prefer to play it as soon as possible or wait a reasonable amount of time?

The thing is that for me it is not worth playing a game as soon as it is released on the market, ignoring the question of price, the developers take time to add content and fix things, look at cyberpunk as an example, 3 years until the dlc is released and the game is completed as such, an extreme case I know, but I have realized that if I give the games a year or so (I admit sometimes more) as a rule it is much better for me when it comes to play them, there are DLCs, the bugs and technical problems are gone, more free content, etc... the only games that I see worth having as soon as possible are those intended for multiplayer.

With all this I do not want to belittle those who buy them on day 1, they are the ones who basically maintain the video game companies, what I can criticize is the developers who, instead of launching games that lack some polish, launch unfinished games .

In all my years of gaming I've only ever bought on day one (or pre-ordered) less than 10 games, which is <1% of the games I've played, early adoption is fine in some markets, but gaming is not usually one of them, with the exception that some games are cheaper to buy in Early Access than if you waited for a full release, that's the only time I'll give money away earlier.

I only played it a few times (which were generally the Pokemon games until Switch came out) and one went so badly that it directly led me to this policy of not buying previous games. It was the Destiny 1 game, I had a great time at the time, I didn't get bored, hours of gameplay, online at the end of the day, but then the mandatory DLCs came out, I mean, I spend $70 for the base game and then you tell me I have to spend $30 more to be able to keep playing online no matter what. I told it to fuck off and learned to never buy a game on release again.

Well Destiny games are scam to be honest

After CyberPunk not anymore. Maybe only with Rockstar, I think they're the last gaming dev that I trust, because they always deliver and make breakthrough in the gaming scene

Depends on the game, but usually yes. I don’t preorder anymore unless the rewards are really cool, but I think there’s nothing wrong with playing on release.

I never preorder. I also don't play day one unless it's a game that my friends want to play with me.

I do that so I can see what people globally think of the game. I did that with CyberPunk 2077 and played a year after release and I just loved the game (still had funny bugs but not game breaking). Not sure I would have if I played day one!

With normal games, if I'm really excited to play them, usually day one. I can put up with a few bugs here and there.

There are too many games to play. So I don't care about new releases at all.

There have been too many games I've been into that add unexpected NTR. I usually wait a couple days to see the reactions from other players first

Depends on the game and how much i want to play it ... depreat -> play on day 1 ... want to play -> I wait some days

Wait a few updates , like now im waiting on "WelCUM to the city" to have enough updates before playing , gotta let the chef cook before eating
