I mean, a normal game, if we get the monetary issue out of the way, do you prefer to play it as soon as possible or wait a reasonable amount of time?
The thing is that for me it is not worth playing a game as soon as it is released on the market, ignoring the question of price, the developers take time to add content and fix things, look at cyberpunk as an example, 3 years until the dlc is released and the game is completed as such, an extreme case I know, but I have realized that if I give the games a year or so (I admit sometimes more) as a rule it is much better for me when it comes to play them, there are DLCs, the bugs and technical problems are gone, more free content, etc... the only games that I see worth having as soon as possible are those intended for multiplayer.
With all this I do not want to belittle those who buy them on day 1, they are the ones who basically maintain the video game companies, what I can criticize is the developers who, instead of launching games that lack some polish, launch unfinished games .
I only played it a few times (which were generally the Pokemon games until Switch came out) and one went so badly that it directly led me to this policy of not buying previous games. It was the Destiny 1 game, I had a great time at the time, I didn't get bored, hours of gameplay, online at the end of the day, but then the mandatory DLCs came out, I mean, I spend $70 for the base game and then you tell me I have to spend $30 more to be able to keep playing online no matter what. I told it to fuck off and learned to never buy a game on release again. In all my years of gaming I've only ever bought on day one (or pre-ordered) less than 10 games, which is <1% of the games I've played, early adoption is fine in some markets, but gaming is not usually one of them, with the exception that some games are cheaper to buy in Early Access than if you waited for a full release, that's the only time I'll give money away earlier.
Well Destiny games are scam to be honestI only played it a few times (which were generally the Pokemon games until Switch came out) and one went so badly that it directly led me to this policy of not buying previous games.
