Do you prefer to play games on release day or wait a while?

Good games are unlikely to go anywhere anf games with bad releases have a chance to improve. The hardware to run brand new games is really expensive and becomes cheaper over time. There are plenty of all time classic games I've not got around to playing yet.
Really the only downside for waiting is not enjoying it at the same time as other people. Beyond multiplayer I don't think that's a terrible tradeoff

waiting for a sale person here

I'll be honest and normally I would pirate a game to see if I would be able to either run it or enjoy it. Then I'd probably wait for a sale to actually buy said game if ever. Especially since games now cost good for 2-3 people worth of food in fast food resto

I only bought a game shortly after it came out once in my life. That was the first commercial game of an indie game developer who I already loved and trusted, and it only cost about 20 Euros. But in general I have the patience to almost never pay more than 10 Euros for a game, and typically under 5 Euros.

Often depends on the Game. But usually i wait for a sale.
Keep in mind - NEVER PREORDER!

if the game looks interesting enough, i will give it a try. However, nowadays i go on the side of caution and let others be the mine canary.

Never play anything on release date, but I will when GTA6 is announced.

I usually wait awhile for all bug fixes some times I make an exception if I really love the game

The games that I used to play on release day know you got to watch out for virus hidden in the code so I wait. Not long tho.

If I don't feel the need to play them immediately I just don't and hopefully forget about them so I can rediscover them (months) later with multiple updates added.

I usually sail the high seas so I don't mind playing day 1. If it is unfinished I just delete and try again later.

If it's a series I really like or online I rather play it on release otherwise it just goes on my backlog and I consider it when I feel like playing that game

I like to play it soon, but not at once. There is always some buggs that gonna need patching. Might be more in the start then later on. That might lessen the gaming experience, depending on the issues. So I wait at least a few weeks.

I wait just so they can fix any bugs or whatnot. EXCPET Being a Dik. I play that shit immediately.

Still have a gigantic backlog that keeps glowing, so yeah, might as well wait a while instead of jumping directly on new releases.

There are some games/franchises I want (and fully intend to get) on release day, GTA6, Fallout 5 (let's not talk about 76), Elder Scrolls 6.
I'll get these games knowing full well that they may well be buggy (2 of them are Bethesda, so that's a given!), but they are franchises I've been playing since the first instalment, and the build up to release lasts years (probably to snare suckers like me).

I'm also a pack-rat, I'll fill out my already overstuffed library during any and all Steam sales, or with bundle deals from the discounters. I've picked up multiple copies of various versions of (for example) Skyrim over the years, because it was cheap, was in a bundle, it was a bit different. I think I own it about ten times over, probably even for Mac, even though I don't own one!

For competetive multiplayer games you usually get the best experience in the beginning when everyone is learning the game, before all the scrubs figure out the exploits. These days though the kids can watch youtube videos on how to break the game before it's even released to the public. Some single player games like Evil West, for instance, were fucked on release with gamebreaking bugs but a few months later they play great.

depends on the game, if i like the franchise enough ill pre order/buy day 1 (hogwarts legacy, bannerlord), but 9 times out of 10 ill wait til a sale

I wait a long while. Most of my life I didn't have a strong enough PC to handle new releases. Now things are different, there are about 0 new games that are of interest to me. I only look forward to adult game updates now.
