Cai has a great model FAR outperforming many of the competitors (and will be more consistent that most of the local models).
I agree it's heavily censored and railed, but it's great to see how good it actually may look like.

Previously I'd recommend yodayo but I don't think it's any good anymore.
But OK,for SFW or mildly NSFW openai may be better.

Other than that personally I use paid models via openrouter proxy on SillyTavern. The best experience IMO.

I've tried CAI though... If you so much as raise your voice by typing in all caps the site's filter cracks down on you and practically bricks that chat session

Oh LOL, I had no idea, but then I never experienced that. Funny.

I mean, probably everyone should make up their mind -- I started here and I ended up with the setup that works for me:

I used think the same thing, but that was before I really started looking into things. after I discovered that there were actual sites and even an application that were free and not just freemium, after doing that I discovered that there was an ability to use these AI chat/rp things, and use them in a way that allows for an experience that is personalized.

Indeed it does, especially if the response is right off the rails. Sometimes they get close to what a reasonable response would be and it's not so bad, but other times it's like getting flung into outer space levels of innaccurate.

At first yeah, but after some times it would get stale, especially when you get used to how the LLM responds.

I haven't tried them. I would never spend money on them, and the process of doing AI tasks locally isn't streamlined enough for me to mess with it.

I've tried a few free ones, and found them all very lackluster. Although the idea is very interesting

Can be very good. Have had many a good experience but also depends on which you use.
