Do ratings affect whether you download a game?

Not really, you have to give every game a try, although I do read the comments to see if it's a grindy game or just straight to fap.

to some degree it does. if it has very low ratings im probably not going to

Kinda, anything below 50% have me reconsider playing the games. But also have to look at the number of reviews. 1 or 2 reviews may not mean anything but more reviews can gauge the quality of the games

Typically no, I've played some high rated games that I didn't really enjoy and I've played some low rated games that I somewhat liked. I've realized my taste in games doesn't always line up with the majority so I tend to try any game that sounds like it would be good based on the description and comments left from others.

I'll be honest I didn't even know there was ratings.

So nope, I don't even look at them. Tags and Images are the main thing, also the overview and any dev notes. Then if I'm not sure about one of them I'll check the comments. Even then I'll sometimes download a "bad" game just to see how bad it realy is.

Considering my own habits when forced to give a rating I can't see them being worth much, I'll either rate 1 or 5 stars with no inbetween and it all depends how I'm feeling right at that moment.

Tags which align to my interests are most important, followed by experience of the author (Have they completed a game, is the game I'm looking at version 0.01, have they left a string of unfinished projects, etc). Rating is not that important, comparatively.

Rating can put me off but generally its more so the reviews themselves and what theyre saying is bad. A lot of good games has lower ratings bc most ppl dont like the sandbox or grind aspect of it, which is valid but I dont mind if the sandbox or grind isnt top notch

The overall rating (number of stars) is not influential. But serious, detailed reviews do, and very much so.

Ratings are secondary. A rating is always personal.
It is more important that the tags are matching.

No.
I find most people dont know what makes a game good even if you bash there skull in with the knowledge.
Too many are to eager to praise mediocerty.

I look at the tags and when it was last updated.
My fetish is niece enough anyway that it wont get high ratings.

Tags and pictures are more important. If i am in doubt after reading info, tags, viewing pictures, I view the rating. Less than 3.5, and I won't download

Id say if it's below a 3 yea I don't touch it. The only exception is if it has great visual and is in the early stages. Sometimes you get down voting earlt just cause of a tag like ntr.

The only things that affect whether I download a game or not are tags, game engine and which assets are used.

For some time when i was starting with VNs i didnt even noticed there were ratings. And nowadays i dont really care, since i can enjoy even badly rated games.

No, games can get review bombed (negative spam reviews on purpose to make a game look bad).

Even if a game has a 1-star rating, I'll still play it.

Not really. Most games are short and I will know in the first 10 minutes if I want to continue or just delete. Never hurts to give it a try. Reviews just help for ideas to improve as far as I am concerned.

Normally yes. If many people (>10) say that the game sucks, then I don't even have a look at it.

It depends on number of reviews. I also look at what they say not just the star rating. I have seen people give a game five stars but in the review they write the game is horrible. Sometimes I will not try a game if the reviews are bad sometimes I will.

No, if the tags catch my attention I download them anyway.
