For now, mime and apollo have full control over LC and will be handling site decisions going forward. I’m stepping back from making site changes for now and letting them decide how to move LC forward. - Jack Of Blades

Do ratings affect whether you download a game?

It's honestly easier to look at the tags first, see if any I hate are unavoidable - if it doesn't have tags I hate (futa, ntr, teasing, fantasy, monster girl, etc) then I look at the ratings and check them out for why. Not as many here but on the other site there are. Also, if it looks cartoony it's a definite no go.

Nah, not at all, plebs, peasants or normies will never understand a TRUE GOLDEN PLOT/GAME/MOVIE/BOOK etc, fuck plebs!!!
Rating is just a number! :bndr0008: :) :bndr0015:

Normally I'm wary of anything below a 4/5, but I usually give it a chance

I am wary of games that are below 3 star .But the more crucial thing is that it should have content i like like incest, harem, male protagonist and avoid ntr ,sharing and monster .

anything below 3 stars i would hesitate, unless the character design is toomgood or a parody a realy like

Sorta, I would say that at three stars and less I start to second guess on whether or not I want to even bother downloading the game, but usually I'm still willing to give the game a chance for myslef.

I mean yeah. If we're being honest. At least if it's here. I'd rather not waste my time on something terrible. But to double check. I'd also check the comments.

Ratings affect my initial impression of a game in these two cases:
1) More than 1000 ratings. Anything less is too easily influenced negatively by "hurr durr, this game sucks because it has {fetish / render style / game engine}, which I don't like" or positively by fanboys/friends/alt accounts of the dev.
2) There is a competently written review breaking down the game into various aspects and rating them separately.

Yeah ratings are a good start but only if there are quite a few of them to avoid strong bias

I care more about the tags tbh. I don't think i have ever even checked the ratings of a game before downloading it

I second tags over ratings.
Ratings (not only for VNs, but for products, GMaps, etc.) have been fucked ever since somehow there was a consensus: 0 doesn't exist and if you get the product or service you were promised, it's an automatic 5/5.

Ratings somewhat deter me from DLing a game especially sandbox one because some tend to be hella fucking grindy but tags and reviews also help me determine if its worth a shot.
I dont ask for mush
A decent story passible art and ill try tbh

I don't look at the ratings at all. Tags + synopsis + preview are mostly enough for me.

i like to try it for myself even if the rating is low

Well no as reviews never swat me form enjoying anything.

I lost track of how many lowly rated games, book, and movies I enjoyed others hated.

Either I have no tastes or those people are just wrong. 🤷‍♂️

Tags are my deciding factor is choosing to play a game or not. Low ratings won't stop me from trying a game that has my preferred tags.

If theres a TON of really low ratings I'll probably not get it. If theres only 1, ill prob try it out.

I use ratings to see if its not going to be completely shit. Otherwise it doesn't matter too much.
