For adult games, I don't want them connected to my real identity via bank. We have seen laws changed and this used to capture people. I can pay by seeing ads or providing Bugfixes etc.

I currently use Tor because of some security concerns, but I used to use Brave. I still use Windows, but with Wine 11 I’m thinking about switching to Linux, maybe Pop!_OS or Mint, what about you?

I use Proton VPN on Windows 11 with a Hyper‑V virtual machine that has networking disabled. I’m planning to switch to a Linux‑based setup for privacy myself in the near future. Likely Debian and using KVM for virtualization. Tor is very appealing to me. I may move to VPN over TOR in the near future.

You have a virtual banker hahaha. I think Linux will be the way forward after Microsoft keeps insisting on collecting our data with AI and now with age verification.
For games I use Sandboxie Plus, it’s very useful and hasn’t caused me any problems so far, maybe it’s not as secure as a virtual machine, but it works, have you tried it?
(PS: If you use a VPN, I think you’re already safe hehe)

Yeah, that rule was originally established because people will assume anything on here is sexual, even when you're not trying to be at all.

We've talked recently about relaxing that rule, but it's still in place.

We've always had some users who just prefer to post in the more restrictive sections. For example, plenty of @vampirecreatur 's stuff could be in public or M+, but you'll find it in the VIP threads anyway. Not the first user to do that, and won't be the last.

I agree AI bloat and age verification are concerning. I’ve read about Sandboxie Plus but haven’t used it. My concern is that it may not offer the same security or performance as a type‑2 hypervisor. And trusting a third‑party sandbox provider is different than trusting an OS vendor. I prefer solutions with strong isolation guarantees. I would be afraid of Sandboxie Plus being insecure due to not being as thoroughly battle-tested.

You're right that Proton VPN is reasonably secure, but I tend to err on the side of caution!

I think you’re right, Sandboxie will never be the most secure, I use it more for convenience. I often install programs through it as well. My problem with a virtual machine is space. I have 1.5 TB and only have 300 GB left D:
If I’m not mistaken, Sandboxie is open source, but has a closed part, so it’s safe (but nothing is better than you deciding what you run on your PC).

Hi~ Welcome to this community.
I hope you have a great time here and don't be shy about talking, commenting, and expressing yourself on the forum—after all, you're more likely to win the biggest jackpot in history than you are run into toxic users here.

A few quick things:

1. Read the Rules—no exceptions—to avoid trouble. They’re pretty basic overall, but there are a few points that will clear up any doubts you might have.
2. The forum uses ranks; some are purchased, and others are earned by meeting certain requirements.
3. To view smol content, you need to be a Member+, a rank you can buy in the Shop (it’s intuitive, but ask if you have trouble).
4. There are 4 currencies, but the ones that matter to you are called Activity Coins (AC) and Donation Coins (DC); the other two are AC 2.0 and Platinum Coins—don’t worry about those for now.
5. You earn AC by being active on the forum, either by commenting (don’t spam) and receiving reactions (remember to give them too), while DCs are more straightforward. This forum runs on voluntary donations and has no ads—nor will it ever have any.
6. In the Shop, there’s a tab called Vault, where you can deposit your AC (minimum 500 per deposit) so they grow every 24 hours at a 1% interest rate and with a limit of 500 coins generated by that interest.
7. The Donator and Premium ranks, both of which can be purchased in the Shop using DC, increase both the interest rate and the limit of coins generated.
8. There are also Prestige ranks that give you access to other areas (more or less). Prestige ranks also function like a Member+ rank, and each one grants you the benefits of the previous one.
9. The forum has a Discord server and will eventually launch its own platform to break away from Discord and its anti-privacy practices, which put users' security at risk.
10. Remember that whenever you encounter a problem—whether it’s users breaking the Rules, broken links in the games, or a bug—please report it. It’s the only way the staff can know there’s a problem and fix it. The mindset of “Why report it? Someone else will” and “I won’t report it because they’ll probably never fix it” is what ultimately leads to certain problems going unresolved.

300 GB is plenty for a VM. A Windows 11 ISO is ~5 GB and a 40 GB virtual disk is usually sufficient for running one game at a time. What do you use the other ~1 TB for?

I have some projects in ZBrush, it’s normal for one character to be over 1 GB, plus heavy games like Red Dead Redemption D: hahaha
But with a virtual machine, I’d have to download the games directly on it, right?

Yes with a virtual machine you would run a second dedicated operating system inside your host operating system. It would have its own file system and virtual disk, and depending on the type of hypervisor, potentially direct access to some hardware resources (like your GPU or networking card) for superior performance

That’s my problem with a virtual machine, it requires technical knowledge that I don’t have yet to ensure extra security. It wouldn’t make much sense for an amateur like me to use something so robust if I’m going to mess up something anyway, right?

Yes computer science pays well. Better than most doctors or lawyers in my case. It can be stressful though
