Ohhh I think I explained it badly then lol.

I meant for the “Choose Your Own Adventure” thread itself, like using VN-style text boxes inside the images instead of speech bubbles directly on them.
Ah. My plan is to add black space below the image and put
Speaker
Speech
In the black space to imitate the way renpy does it.
I was also thinking of creating a Javascript game using the images here, but I don't know if that will work and if the admins here would object to deep linking. I could password protect the links so if you only know the web page you can't extract any information about lewd corner.

That actually sounds really clean honestly. The black space below the image with the speaker + dialogue format is pretty much exactly what I was imagining. Feels a lot more VN-like without covering the artwork itself.

Regarding the deep linking idea though, I think you might run into authentication issues if the Javascript app is hosted on another domain. Since the images here usually require logged-in session cookies, the external site probably wouldn’t be able to access them properly. Browsers are usually pretty strict about cross-domain cookies and requests nowadays.

So even before possible admin concerns, the technical side itself might get annoying fast.

Yes, I don't see lewd corner admins adding my domain to CORS. @mime, can I do a quick password scramble test?

Yeah, and I think we all prefer it that way, CORS can create chaos quickly if left unchecked. Better to just keep it simple and locked down.

Foundry is great. Makes getting into the game so much easier. Talespire is awesome too, but more useful for making cool 3d maps.

How do people feel abut pathfinder?
Pathfinder is okay, I do not like it's community. According to the community, Pathfinder 1e was made because "dnd4e sucks". Okay sure. They also say that Pathfinder 2e was made because 5e is too bare bones and they are using alot key principles from dnd4e, which was "actually good, y'all and better than 5e". As someone who loved 4e, I feel both vindicated and infuriated.

Yeah, they have a god complex of sorts. But their tools are great, and most stuff for pathfinder is free. But it's also a bit bloated and complex for newer players. Honestly, its a Linux/Windows type debate. Use whichever you want, nobody has the right to complain about your choice.

Them providing everything for free just makes things so nice to deal with. If someone has forgotten their player's handbook or something just a quick look up and there's all the info you'd need

I agree. The worst way to get someone to play the system you're suggesting is to say "why are you playing 4e, 4e sucks it's too video-gamey, play pathfinder instead". Led me to never touching that system for so long. Then fast forward years later getting hit by "you should stop playing 5e, play pathfinder 2e instead, it's so much better and is just like 4e."

5etools also exists, but i dont think that website knows what "copyright infringement" means

Anyone calling the edition that brought the game into pop culture to the extent that 5e has is not only wrong, but jaded as hell and just saying shit to be a contrarian. I never really understood the whole 'this edition is bad' angle. They all play their own way, and it isn't like older editions become inaccessible when a new one comes out. It's like, just play the edition you prefer then?

true, but just easier to get around when things are official, more digital character creators just have everything you need (I don't like them but plenty of my players did), things like foundry VTT just has the module to play for free etc

I mean, some of the recent statements from Wizards of the Coast about the 5e systems and rules rival their MTG statements in stupidity. But most of it can be ignored easily. And if you can ignore their statements and just enjoy their well made system, then everything's dandy.

MTG fans are generally less lucky, especially with the "this card will never be reprinted" promises being broken.

FoundryVTT + Plutonium to import from 5etools is a fantastic combination. Made my life ten times easier.

Yep, 100% this. Tho, there are cases when groups only play 1 system to the detriment of the group. I once got invited to a game of 5e where they homebrewed the shit out of it to make it be mechs and pilots, and I was like, Lancer or Mutants and Masterminds would suit your wants and needs better.

A lot of that is really just ignorance of the options that are available, but yeah people who dig their heels in to stick with a system that they've frankensteined beyond all recognition is quite unfortunate.

Homebrew is good, but only to some certain point. Completely converting the setting might be a bit much. 5e is really built around the usual fantasy world.

Do you guys play video games harder on workdays than during holidays? I feel way more motivated to play when I’m busy with work compared to long stretches of free time. Like, during long holidays I’d rather just doomscroll because there’s nothing to do, but during breaks between work hours I’ll grind my games really hard.

It certainly feels like when I have a day off, I always think to myself 'well I've got all this time, I'll just watch a couple videos first before playing' and then it just devolves from there into me not hopping on to a game til like 7pm anyway.

I am the exact opposite. When I have work to do, I'm too busy thinking about the work to focus on gaming. I have to be done with anything important before I can sit down and enjoy a game. But I can doomscroll for a few minutes while I'm in between tasks.

Yup, but mostly because I like to spend the weekend with my girlfriend and my family. They keep being entertaining, but I lose interest in games after some time.
