Yeah, sorry about that- I have "necro-lepsy"...
Here's the name (I'm sure someone else may have answered it by now).
My Life in a Fantasy Kingdom [LK1.69EXTRA Public]
Looks alright, but seems to be not for me. I wish it had smoother animations with sound (not just sloppy wet sounds but also moaning). I mean, i don't mind stills (or a couple of them stitched together for an animation), i even like to look at them, but if i play one handed, its not enough for me. Might be stingy of me, but i guess thats just my taste

Meaning: someone tried to turn "Silmarillion the reference manual" into an actual book.
I think the Simarillion is not intended to be a novel, but a sort of "historical chronicle". It mimics the style of king annals and that kind of books. Is not an style easy to digest. But yeah, I agree. If it had been published today it would probably be in the form of an encyclopedia or handbook.

It mimics the Genesis.

So... it's just the black mermaid thing then?
I mean, c'mon man!
No, is about mediocre products made by mediocre people/companies that try to push an agenda through means that shouldn't be politicied.
If they're trying to make a historical movie, I think you should use someone of the same or similar race, sure.
But, if it's a fantastical story with someone who has the name Julius Cesar, Cleopatra or Joan of Arc, then who gives a shit?
Do you think the King Edward from the show My Lady Jane is disrespectful because he is a black actor?
More or less disrespectful than the fact that PEOPLE CHANGE INTO ANIMALS IN THE SHOW?
If it's a movie/game/series based on historical facts then they should adhere to those historical facts, if they are trying to make something different then it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know why you try to make it sound as I have something against black people, that has never been the issue, it's just the hypocrisy of some people, as I remember there was some problems with the cleopatra series in nertflix, that was portrayed as "historically accurate" but it was not, it even came to the point that a lawyer filed a complaint accusing the series of violating media laws and of attempting to: "distort and erase Egyptian identity".

Fair. That means I'm not people then... and that's ok.

I want villains to win. In games I play, or stories I wrote (that are too awful to even self publish), it's villain protagonists... WINNING.

FYI, I called my cheating ex- a lot of insults. My worst one... technically... is G-Rated. "You are nothing... but a... HUMAN BEING!"
She knew the level of emotion behind that statement.

That said, I understand that I'm in the minority. And I really do hope that you can enjoy lots of villains losing at the end. That just won't ever be me.

Hello, my Favourite French!
Do you mind if I get stuck into this conversation you and @matthiacallus are having?
Well, you don't have much choice... Because...

I wnat to critique your comment from a little while ago, which my brain forgot, but this reply where you've lovingly included me now reminds me of.

Ahem.

He's a bad guy... in 21st century storytelling.

They "have to" make him a clown... otherwise someone might... I dunno... create a Galactic Empire right here on Earth or some shit.
At least that's how they behave.

I HATE IT. Let me be clear. But I've (sort of) made peace that most entertainment will fuck over villains in any story to appease the puritanicals.

I can't wait to see how the Rings of Power fuck up Sauron and Marvel will fuck up Doom, RDJ or no.

So... I disagree with this. Absolutely.
And I think it's a little disingenuous.
Not on purpose! But, hear me out.

Unless we're not looking beyond Disney films or Popcorn flicks, there are plenty of films wher the 21st Century Storytelling Villain isn't a clown.
Speaking of an actual clown - Joker. In Dark Knight Rises. Just came to me. But good example.

The problem isn't 21st Century Sensibilities, its 21st Century Capitalism with a relience on lowest common denominator, created by committee, nepotist hires. It's films that are badly made and badly written. Good films, good villains, are still being written.

You list Marvel fucking up Doom. Did they fuck up Thanos? Thanos WON. He was not a clown in the slightest.
And that's firmly 21st Century, even firmly Disney. And that's a good villain right there.
This is why I said Disigenuous, by the way. Since the same company that ruined Thawn, gave us a good Thanos. In the same Century.
And, even so, the original Star Wars was pretty clownish with it's villains anyway. Thawn was only ever good in the EU - comics and books etc - where characters tend to be more nuanced anyway as pages give more space to breathe.

The problem isn't "lets water down the villains" the problem is "lets hire shit writers who don't know how to write a villain".
And then, there's the other debate... People often don't understand the difference between Hero/Villain Protagonist/Antagonist.

What about Wolf of Wallstreet? Protagonist WAS the Villain. This is a film that also came out in 21st Century.

So, my point, in a very tired and rambling and overly verbose manner. Is that I think blaming a cultural shift towards "clownlike" villains is incorrect. I think it only fuels culture war rhetoric, because it's the kind of stuff people latch onto - "we can't have villains anymore, people are too soft" - etc. We can. We do. It's just that many of the biggest films right now are not exactly written for complex nuances. It's not hard C Culture, it's hard C Capitalism.

I'd say whatever actor you hate.

Because whatever actor plays a WHITE Denzel...

...won't have a career for very much longer.

Haha. Again, this was in a fictional future where we have complete and total Equity amongst all on earth!

That's actually a very good point, however there has been some cases of historical figures that were interpreted by black actors when that was not their ethnicity, some examples of that were:

Julius Cesar
Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim
Cleopatra
Joan of arc
Margaret of Anjou
(Among others)

It's like you take Tom hanks and make him play Martin Luther King, I don't support that kind of thing, and that there are people trying to justify it its what bothers me, as this has become some kind of twisted "war" being pushed by political agendas and/or radical points of views.

At the end of the day, the stupidity goes both ways.
I might get hammered by the Mods for this comment but how about all of those depictions, in art, cinema and tv of Jesus Christ as a white man, when he would quite certainly have been of Middle Eastern descent. You know the area of the world made of countries such as Israel, Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Palestine, etc. If that isn't the clearest example of unconcious bias regarding the portrayal of characters/historical figures (take your pick) then I don't know what is, and in this case that bias has been in play for at least 650 years (the renaissance) and is still in play in certain areas of certain countries.

The double pair of tits of the cow women are a good idea, put the execution not so much. I think they should be more attached and not that separated. Something like this (I copy/pasted the tits, the original has only one pair).

Nobody ever makes it one huge monoboob with long nipples, though.

How about that Hitler conundrum? Huge villain and hero.
Villain because of... well, it's Hitler.
Hero because he killed Hitler.
But does their race really play a role in this?
RACE IS EVERYTHING, IT'S EVERYTHING!

The "Historically Accurate" Cleopatra was panned by everyone. It was widely regarded as an absolutely shockingly shit move and just part of Smiths ongoing delusion she calls a life. Smith was trying to push an agenda, I agree, it was part of her own, imagined, personal Black Empowerment, but even Black Critics disowned it. Smith is just a complete and utter idiot.
I think the problem was that she came out and said that Cleopatra was black.
When really, we don't actually know for sure. And also, Jada doubles down on everything when she's wrong.

Don't have anything to say against that, you are right, I find it funny that people thinks that Jesus was a white man, when as you had already said, he was born in the middle east.

Maybe it's just me, but the Silmarillion never felt like a book.

It felt like the Star Trek "bible" they supposedly had in classic Trek and TNG that summarized all the stuff that happened to keep things straight.
Meaning: someone tried to turn "Silmarillion the reference manual" into an actual book.

I'm not saying that's what happened. I'm saying what it felt like.

Me Again!

Isn't the whole ordeal that the Tolkein estate wouldn't give up the rights to anything other than the Silmarillion and some extended appendices? Hence why Amazon are basically making Rings of Power by cobbling together the lose bits of lore they have at their dispossal? Basically agreeing with the points that it shouldn't be "adapted" but Amazon are forcing the adapation?
Or am I talking shit?

I couldn't even finish Rings of Power. Bored me to tears.

It mimics the Genesis.
I think you mean the Ainunlindalë, the tale of the creation of the world by Eru and the story of the Ainur. That just lasts 10 pages, the Silmarilion is 490 pages book. And I don't think it "mimics" the Genesis, but it's a mishap between the Genesis and other polytheistic mythologies.

She was Greek/Macedonian, I believe.

Actually I saw some images of cowgirls with human breasts + cow breast in the belly and they are weird as fuck XD I like more a free interpretation of the cow breasts with doubling the human ones. Bill Willingham has a double paired breast race in Ironwood. I tried to find an online image, but I failed. In their drawing they are very hot (not cows, but sort of semi-giants with 4 arms if I remember correctly).

I've not read the whole genesis, but it's also more than 10 pages. It's about the creation of the world, its early history and the origin of the first people AKA silmarilion. True, maybe mimic is not the best word in this case, but is the only one that comes to mind.

I'd cast denzel as white denzel. White face and black face are equally amusing to me. Probably because it upsets people.
I think I remember there was 'uproar' within the story in the movie Tropic Thunder regarding RDJ's character doing a form of black-face in order to be cast for that particular role in the film they were making but was there any sort of real world controversy about it? I don't know.

Thanos... did NOT win.
He won the first match, and LOST in the finals. Yes. Yes. The world got changed a bit. But overall, it was back to normal. If you consider that winning, I can't stop you.

Insight into my mind: Thanos winning would have been... it sticks. It's there. Half the universe is destroyed. In the MCU, the Earth has 4 Billion people. Not 8. THAT would have calmed me down for almost a decade!
But it didn't happen. Thanos was dusted. 99.9% of the heroes survived. A day ending in Y for the good worshipping population.
Sucks to be me that I'm evil.

Your points are very valid, I'll admit. I can't comment on Wolf of Wallstreet. It seems to a story based on reality, not that it had had to have happened. I assume that like, in Breaking Bad
The villain loses and dies in the end. Or maybe jail. And if not, if he wins as per my definition, like WIN win and it sticks, I might give it a watch.

My version of villain protagonist winning: The villain wins, achieves all their goals, end of franchise, no heroic come back, then end. i.e. Vader kills Luke. Becomes the Emperor. The Empire kills all the rebels. The end. CREDITS.

And yes... I know... it would lose SO MUCH MONEY...💵💵💵

But does their race really play a role in this?
Borders have been crossed from the moment we started moving around this planet.
And let's use your Julias Ceasar example - the Romans didn't really have a concept of "Race" so much as they had a concept of "Culture". People were often identified by their place of origin, language, customs, or religion rather than by physical characteristics alone. Compare that to our idea of Race now. Where, a Black American, is treated differently than just "an American".
So, the ideal person to play Julias Ceasar is... Someone of Roman Culture...

The reason I used Martin Luther King as an example, is because the great bredth of his story and lifes work was related to the colour of his skin and the treatment of the ethnic minority surrounding him. A minority that was fresh out of slavery and still dealing with the ramifaction of having very few rights and very poor standards of living. Being black was important in this context.

For someone like Julias Ceasar, being Black, doesn't matter.
He can BE Black, just like he can be any other shade under the sun, it doesn't matter to who Julias Ceasar was.
If it's a historical movie or series then yes, as he was who he was, and that can not be changed. If it's something that does not follow an historical setting then I don't have any issue with him being played by a black actor, as long as they do it right and stay away from political statements.

They only tried to rectify after a lot of backslash received trough social media, not all of them, but enough to see the hypocrisy behind a lot of certain groups and people.

What are you talking about? Thanos won the first and only match. Infinity war was the conclusion of the Marvel universe and there has been no new movies since.
